Can you order old colors on a new car?

My wife currently has an R170 in either Bahama or Sapphire - forget which.

Anyway, is it possible to order this (special I guess) on an R171? Does Mercedes do this?

Extra cost?

Yes, they do. Designo colors are about 1500,00 Euro, alubeam for AMG models 10.000,00 Euro, each special color costs between the designo and the alubeam price.

Hope she likes designo chablis metallic - it´s a wonderful color

What about a non MB color on a new SLK?
Is that also called designo?

No, designo are special Mercedes colors, but you get Ferrari red if you like, but you´ve to open your wallet very , very wide.

Mercedes still make bespoke automobiles, they will make ANYTHING you want, but as Gero says, they will charge you for it.

Sorry, but the chablis metallic is my LEAST favorite of all colors. That's only the second picture I've ever seen of it.

If keithfox is in the US:

The way I read it in the US, it will take a arm and leg to get MBUSA to allow a non standard (including their defined designo) colors.

I´ve seen a SLK in chablis and it looked beautifull. The owner made just one mistake: he put chrome wheels on it - uahhhhh. Chablis is very noble! Not silver, not gold - like Chablis wine

i like the chablis colour above, would look great against darker wheels, and im sure in the sun it would look awesome.
i love the purple colour AMG's come ni, would consider this for my next car.

Chablis is terrific,Especially with Black nappa leather with Sand centres.
