Default SLK cargo capacity

What is the strangest thing that you have had to transport in your SLK?

I gave my 4-Runner to my son in order to make room for my SLK and tonight I had to put a 60 pound Dewalt 12 inch sliding compound miter saw in the front seat and drive it 70 miles to deliver it to a guy who bought it from me on eBay. The top had to be down because the saw had to sit on the end with the handle sticking out the top. I noticed several looks of sympathy from passing SUV owners. So sad, no SUV anymore...

Of our four vehicles, I dislike the truck the most. That's the one I'd get rid of first. However, it's situations like yours that forces me to keep it. We have four vehicles in four categories. The fun car is obviously the SLK. The Mazda 6 is a good road, four door car for several passengers. The VW NewBeetle diesel is the economy road car. It's neat, turbo diesel, runs strong, I call it the "Prius eater". Here Prius, Prius. The truck, well it's a truck. I'm familiar with a Dewalt 12" sliding compound miter saw. That thing is like a octopus. They don't get any larger. How did you get that thing in the front seat? I don't particularly like having four vehicles for two drivers, but they all have a specific purpose .

I haven't actually had to transport anything really unusual in my car yet. This is mostly because it either fits or it doesn't. I was @ the Apple store the other night and wanted to buy a 30inch cinema display but the box would not fit in the car and they didn't offer delivery services either

When both kids are at college this fall, there will be only 2 cars: SLK and Honda Odyssey. Any stuff that won't fit in the SLK goes into the minivan.

I had to put down a heavy blanket on the passenger seat and stand the 'octopus' on one end with the handle sticking up out of the roof. I had to drive up with the top down. I could have driven my Toyota Sienna but the SLK was a lot more fun.....

Wow! it seems like a lot of SLK owners are also minvan owners! We have 2 drivers in my family and 4 cars. we were to have 1 suv, 1 sedan, 1 coupe, 1 convertible....as it stands, we have 1 convertible (slk55), 2 coupes (clk500, 560 SEC), and a minivan (dodge caravan).

BTW, does anyone ever feel the urge to modify their minivans (i've got a van with hydraulics in the rear, power ramp, and bodykit)? i know it's a waste, but they drive so bad and look so ugly...but as it is, i end up overstuffing the other cars when i want to go anywhere...in my SEC, i actually punched a hole through a trim piece on the console once, very sad....
