SLK 350 Maintenance @ 50-80K Miles

I'm considering purchasing my first SLK (and MB for that matter) a 2007 350 with about 50K on it.

Would like to make an informed decision.

What maintenance/repairs can I expect to make over the next 30K of life (50-80K mileage)

What might the cost of scheduled maintenance for this time be?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Kevan,

Welcome to the World’s Premier Mercedes-Benz SLK Community from Valrico, Florida!

Please update your location/vehicle (model and year)(put looking) in your profile as it helps the members answer your questions which usually are based on that information.
‘Usercp’ at the top left of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘location’ and ‘vehicle’.

You might want to post an introduction in the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section, if you haven’t already.

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:

If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
In addition, if you haven’t, please post your question in the appropriate discussion forum for a quicker response and only once. Be patient and a knowledgeable member or guest will address your question.
If you wish to PM (Private Message) someone, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.
New members and guests should be aware that the 'New Posts' link next to the 'Search' link top right of the info bar is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last.

Best bet is to look at the Owners Manual (available online through various places -- try a Google search) and check out the maintenance schedule.

In the interval you defined, you'll definitely want a tranny fluid change, fuel filter, three oil changes, cabin air filter, engine air filters, one or two sets of tires, 1-2 brake fluid changes, a set of spark plugs, and maybe brake pads/rotors. That's all routine stuff.

In higher mileage Mercedes it also seems fairly common to need engine mounts around 70K miles, which is about $500-800 depending on who does it.

Grab this - is a good starting point, and if you figure $200 for A service and $400 for B service, you are probably in the ball park.

5 years triggers a few non-mileage related items (plugs, transmission fluid, etc), but you are at the 50k point, so in theory the transmission service should have already been done. If not, dealer price seems to be about $399, with Indy service about half of that.

At 50,000 miles the trans should have been done at 40,000, if not that need to be done ASAP cost around 400. Brake fluid every two years around 125. Oil and fliter every year or 10,000 miles which come first around 125. These are normal service items. There is a list of other items that are replaced based on miles that would depend on how much you use it like cabin filter or wear like tires.

You beat me to it, John That is such a handy link to have if one doesn't have the manuals close at hand.

All of the above mentioned maintenance my 07 slk350 I spent $1,700.00 @ 40k miles. These are: B service plus AT fluid and filter, new pads and rotors(front only) brake fluid exchange. fuel filter, cabin filter and a free car wash and loaner car. All of this done by MB
If there is a good Indy garage you know get some estimate and compare prices. Also make sure your set of tires are still good because a new set can add up $800 TO $900.
