| I spell grey like the English, why not Colour? ;-) Some comments about current colors. Please feel free to reply with your thoughts, opinions, and what you think your car color says. Remember, I'm quite the bigot when it comes to my car, and especially it's color! All thoughts are of my taste though, and they do not mean anything to anyone else. I like my cars colorful. I like to look out at them as bright and happy spots, fun and enjoyment. When I see my Mars Red SLK, I always smile. It's beauty in a tight, tasteful red dress saying "Get in, I'm ready for the party!" You never think of a cold grey, icy, dreary, depressing day when you look at Red or Blue or Yellow. Has anyone ever made a song about a "Lady in Silver?" "Teeny weeny itsy bitsy Gun Metal Grey polkadot bikini?" To me, sports cars are about passion, and passion is colorful! Props to the silver cars with the red interiors. To me, they say "I may seem formal outside, but I'm a dash of naughty fun on the inside." As well as echoing a past color scheam of early SL's. To all you people who bought the brown interior: FABULOUS, Darling, the 70's and earth tones are back! Especially amoung straight people. It's a daring choice, but does work well. You don't see many of Jennifer Hart's Yellow exterior and Brown interior SL's for sale today, so it may be risky if you're holding for the long term. All us homos are already moving on to the 80's*, but truthfully, I do NOT remember seeing as many mohawks then as I am seeing now. Especially in London. What ever happened to rebelling against your parent's way of dressing? If I see parachute pants again, I'm gonna puke! *Really, I do not follow fashion trends, as I believe it's better to be comfortable then to look good. (GASP!) No, just regular Levi's in my closet. Those are real worn out jeans, not specially treated to look like it. Do you guys know how screaming queen gay you look in those jeans with the lightened up patches? The designer "frayed" bottoms? My biggest problem with Mercedes-Benz colors for the SLK, is the back of the brochure looks less like a young man's sports car selection then it does the casket colors available for the end of the road. They even took away Orian Blue, which I thought was TOO DARK under non-direct light! I mean, except for the Mars Red, and some of the brighter silvers, it seems every color was screened to make sure it was appropriate to park in front of a funeral home! You can have blue if you want it, or green if you want it. However, it will look like "navy blue" in anything but direct sunlight, and black at night, especially if you're looking at the paint chips and not the whole car. Here, the dealers only order about 20 silver, 3 black and 2 whites every ordering time. You can never see an SLK in a color unless someone special ordered it. I'm not saying they should allow screaming yellow with pimp purple interior Porsche does (actually they will match any color swatch for inside or outside you give them.) I'm asking what happened to the wonderful colors of the first generation? Blue! Yellow! (Okay, so I prefer a lemon yellow to a banana yellow, the option would be nice!) per! What happened to medium dark Orian Blue? Didn't they even make the Firemist, the dark red even darker, I think it's called Storm Red now? Sure you can have your elegant blacks, whites, silvers, dark colors, etc. Just have a nice selection of a couple of brighter colors for people like me, who like to look out and see their SLK sticking out as a ray of sunshine in amoungst all the boring toasters of transportation, waiting to brighten up their day, and make life fun. As far as my interior goes, the black would have been nice, except I had a '71 Cutlass Convertible with black interior. Leather is better then vinyl, but black with the top down in South Florida still sears your flesh if left out. The other reason I did not go with black, is the grey ligtened it up when the top was up and makes the inside seem more airy and less serious. Black does look a lot more expensive though. Why didn't I get beige? Simple.... My first car... er truck. 1987 beige on beige Mitsubishi Might Max SPX. Traumatized me. I can not get a car with beige inside or out. However, the beige I did see with Mars Red, and it was nice. I have seriously thought about doing the AMG red and black interior in my car, but matching the red to the outside color then just berry. If I would have convinced myself I could live with the automatic, I was planning on getting the SLK55 in Obsidian Black with red/black interior, as they wouldn't let me have it with red outside either. What reason do you have for the colors you chose? What do you think your car's color and style says? PS: A screen shot of the new PocketPC theme I did from a picture of my car I call "reflections of heaven". Everytime I get a phone call I get to see it and smile. |

| I think MB is a little conservative on their color choices but I also think it works out best this way. Lambo's are the only car that can get away with bright colors IMO. Lime Green and pearl orange looks great on a lambo, disgusting on a benz and vice versa, silver and black looks classic on MB's but rather boring on Lambo's. I've always wanted something different then the norm, Black looks stunning but I'm not the type to wipe it down every two days. Both my dad and brother own black cars and they spend alot of time trying to keep it clean. Capri and Caspian blue in pics looks black to me and I have not seen those colors in metal prior to my purchare. Although I'm warming up to red, it was never an option. Had white before, wanted something different. Diamond silver is too light and looks feminine IMHO. Orion blue was an option but that was discontinued for 2006, I didn't persue any further, found out later that it can still be ordered. So I settle for silver, although common, matches MB perfectly, easy to maintain. Interior - I had beige interior in my previous sports car and love it. I like two tone interiors, it's more exciting to me. All black is sporty but dull to me. So I wanted beige with silver but again isn't an option w/o paying extra money. I thought about it but after seeing several members with ash, I thought it was a good alternative. Yes, my ash and silver combo is common but that's what mods are for, I have yet seen an SLK that looks like mine on the road. Silver is common but not around here and I don't have to wipe it down every week to keep it clean which is a big plus. If I can do it all over again, I would definatley spend the extra money and get orion blue, which is more rare now that it's not an option here in the states. All blue interior looks bad but with the two tone blue it looks great, ideal color would be orion blue with two tone blue interior. Pics below. ![]()

| I thought we already agreed 100% that my 350 has the best color combination (Mars Red exterior / Berry Red (seats and door panels) & black interior) for the SLK. http://www.slkworld.com/general-disc...html#post18075 My first choice was Mars Red exterior/ AMG Red & Black interior but since the AMG55 was too much for my buget (according to my wife) and the dealer culdn't get the AMG interior for a 350 I had to settle for what you see in the pictures. |

Actually, I am looking into having AMG red & black interior done on it. One thing is for sure, I'd have to have the roof liner red, as the black with top up makes me feel closed in. The ash feels airy in comparison. | |
