Default What is Cylinder Numbering System for SLK 320 Engine

I need to know the cylinder numbering system for the 2002 SLK320 engine to interpret OBD2 code referring to misfire in cylinder 5. Which is cylinder 5? I have looked in the shop manual etc. Does the numbering start with number 1 cylinder at front left and number back and forth to the rear of the block or is it some other layout?

MacCallum

Thanks for any help.

The LHS (driver's side in the US) bank (front to rear) is 1-3-5.
The RHS bank (front to rear) is 2-4-6.

Default Cylinder Number System for SLK320

When I removed the engine cover and coils at each cylinder the cylinder numbers embossed on the valve cover were visible. The numbers on this car are as follows:

Right Side from front 1, 2, 3
Left Side from front 4, 5, 6

Probably you don't need to know this, as messages like this are seldom what they seem.

How old is your MAF?
