Default Heated seat problem

I have found out that the bottom heating system of both seats of my slk 171 do not work any more. Back heating is good. Does anybody know how much it is going to cost in order to fix the broblem or what the problem might be? Thank you very much.

There is a whole bunch of reports about not working heated seats over here in Germany:
1) seats get to hot on some spots
2) dont`t work at all
3) don`t get hot enough
4)bottom works, back does not
5)back works, bottom doesn`t
As far as I know all complaints have been fixed via warranty. The heating mats inside the seats have been changed, some even had the complete leather of the seats changed for some reason.

I have been noticing that the bottom seems to be pretty hot on the left, and I can't really feel heat on the right. Wonder if I should be complaining.

Default Waranty?

I bought this car 6/2004
The 2 years of waranty have pased. Am I going to pay for the heated seats?
I asked the local dealer and told me (withought looking) that usually you can't do anything. All you can do is buy new seats. Is it possible???????

2 year?

Where are you based because to the best of my knowledge its a 3yr in most places

That line about replacing seats is just dealer BS even for a failure of both pads you just replace the base or back not the actual seat frame.

Check the DTB`s on that site, you may find something. I have`t got the time to do it for you this morning
http://www.billsden.org/mercedes/slk/docs/

Addition: just checked the German site :
some one had the same problem, hot seat on the left side, the leather of the seat was changed completely, seems the heater mat is sewn to the leather. Had the problem of the new leather beeing not exactly like the rest of the seat....!
