Default A small problem?

In the past few days, I have been unable to find the spell checker on this board that I used to use. Perhaps it has just moved and is hiding from me? In any event, I need it as my spelling is really bad.

I wouldn't worry mate. I tend to write on MS word, use the spell check there, then paste it over. Anyway, you have a SLK, you must be doing something right...right?

If you have a mac, press Command ; to spell check in any text field, anywhere.

In Windows, you can install something like this for IE: ieSpell

OK: I can't type first on windows and then copy and paste to a post, becuse the sentences and paragraphs come out all garbled. I have downloaded ieSpell, and not to figure out how to use it and where to find the prompt.

I guess that you are talking about another site this one has spell check in the top right hand corner of the message area (ABC check mark)
If this is not your problem my internet browser is window's Explorer and it will also spell check post to this site --- maybe it just got turned off on the control bar

No sir, I am talking about this board. The page on which I am typing this response has no spell check "bug" in the upper right corner. It had such just a few days ago, but it is gone. I can find no link on the site control panel for spell check. Any suggestions on how to get it back?

I'm not capable to solve this problem for you as I have no control over the site --- maybe you can pm Bill T and he should be able to solve your problem.

I have ieSpell using XP on this forum. (In fact, I just used it to proof-read this post.) I think it's actually an aftermarket application that installs itself when you download it. I had trouble with it once, when my anti-virus program got a little too protective. Do you have the spell check icon in the top right corner when you reply to a message? It is the little "abc" with a check below (I apologize if you knew that already, had to ask). If you click on it and nothing happens, try turning off your firewall and make sure you don't have a pop-up blocker. I use ZoneAlarm, and it occasionally blocks this type program requiring me to "unblock" it again.

Hope that helps.

Of course, like the others said, Google Chrome and Firefox work really well and don't have these problems. Both are free, and make Microsoft look bad by comparison...

Mysteriously, my spell check on this forum has returned! It appears (as it did before) as a check mark with "ABC" above it on the upper right side of the reply page. Problem solved -- I hope permanently.

Well, the spell checker returned to my old PC, then the old PC died. I bought a new Mac, and I'll try pressing "Command" as suggested above. Oh oh, that does not work!

Oh, I see, I have to press "Command" and ";". now let's try. Ok, it identified improper spelling, but did not show the proper spelling (which I often need). Does anybody know hhow I can get this feature?

Hmmm, you *were* of course wearing a black turtle neck and jeans? You have to be wearing the right clothes for a Mac to work! :-)

No, actually a dark red polo and jeans. Maybe the problem is the shirt?
