May be it is the time and corridor that you hit the road? My commute is almost 100 miles round trip on 101/80/24 and and I get this almost once or twice a month if not more and usually on 24. Just last week I had this Z4 that dogged me for almost 5 miles from 80 to 24. The Z4 was actually going speed limit on the 2nd lane when I passed on the passing lane at around 80mph (80-90mph is almost the norm on 24 during early commute hour), it sped up and caught up and pulling up next to me but not passing me, but kept doing that zipping in and out of traffic for almost 5 miles until it finally realized that I refused to bite then it just slowed down and disappeared. I was really tempted to have a go if not for the fact that lately seems like CHP got new fundings and there are a lot more patrols out and with more radar guns.

I happen to do the same thing when they start to annoy you and rev their engines.

I guess it's a blessing to not get tempted. Speeding tickets are expensive, but I sure don't want to experience the cost/loss of street racing. I know the Sacramento area is heavily focused on the subject. A few too many people recklessly driving in congested areas. Dumb people.

From a different angle...

I get a kick out of when a "boom box car" pulls up next to me at a red light... I just put my top up and close the windows!!!

Close up like a clam shell and don't have to hear that cRAP!

Then put the top back down as the light turns green and I am driving away!

As far as racing...I don't get that so much. At weekend car shows if I get the old "I can beat that!" from a racer type, I just smile and say maybe so, as I hit my roof remote and tell them I don't race, I CRUISE.

For some reason (maybe its a socal thing) but Scion freakin TCs keep tryin to race me. Its funny how they just come up full blast behind me and challenge me. S2Ks come up to me a lot too.......

I remember one time I was at a light and some idiots crammed in a TC were revving their engine at me. So I revved back. As soon as the light turned green they took off.......and I made the right turn I intended to make.

Funny you mention a TC. I raced one about a year ago in Norcal. It was turbocharged. I could hear it clearly. I knew it wouldn't be much competition. In fact, I believe he knew the same. It was all in good fun. We gave eachother the thumbs up. I'm guessing he just wanted to see what his car would do against an AMG.

Now, I should venture onto the Scion forums and see if he posted a 'kill.'

Well said. They're actually admiring your car, or jealous, or both.

I rarely get challenged, even though my car is completely debadged.

I did get challenged by a G35 the other day...those are fast cars! but of course beat him, and let him do his 'ricer flyby' afterwards.

I had a 335i play with me the other day. He acted as if he wanted some but never bit. Then, as I signaled to make a turn, he did the fly-by. . What's with that?

I'd be careful against those 335s..........they can easily get big hp with a few mods since they are highly detuned.

I wouldn't mind getting beat by one. It might be fun for it to go down. I would guess I'd get off the line quicker. Then, there would be a bit tugging back and forth if going against a manual car.

You've certainly do, I dont think a race with a carrera gt is that bad but did you catch up at lower speeds ?

I never had the opportunity to meet a Carrera GT
I managed to go 0-60 mph in 4 sek, not 3,7 like Kleemann says, maybe some practise will do, but I never outran a Carrera Gt with my SLK Kleemann, never met one so far.
My racing sons tell me to go for higher pressure - 1 barg instead of 0,4, lowering the kompression from 11:1 to 8, new pistons, etc.....1000 hp - no sh...it!
But I dont know, Im quite allright with the performance at the moment.
