Default New record in my slk280...and ticket

last night in california got it up to 140 on the freeway, passed an overpass with a cop hiding behind it, he lit me up

good news is he didnt have radar on, ticket is for 110mph, and i have to go to court.

any suggestions?

a great end to a great set of tires

Sorry --- but was it worth it? Was it locally?
Don't know what the process is for over 100 but maybe Scott can tell us
If he didn't have radar how did he decide on the speed did he clock you or ?

I was driving next to my roommates 240sx, we hit 135-140 and the cop got on us and i was still doing 110 when he lit me up so i'd assume he was matching speed or guessing

it was in folsom

and dude it was my last run on these tires i just ordered new ones so i figured id have fun, just happened to get caught, and it was the most exciting experience ive ever had in that car, they can have my license, totally worth it.

there goes your insurance.

Good thing you dont have a 350 or 55 that is faster.

All things considering this guy is letting you off easy, could off got you for street racing if your buddy was next to you.

Go to a track, the price would of been cheaper than your ticket, or your insurance rates.
Not that i havent run the car on the streets or anything, but i was younger and dumber.
Hopefully u learned ur lesson cuz it wasnt smart at all.

Ouch. I'm guessing off highway 50. Baron's right. They could have got you for racing and I'm surprised they didn't. Sacramento is getting real tough on street racing and illegal mods so be careful.

Anyways, just drive to Willows Thunderhill raceway. It's a short distance and you'll get to keep your license.

Good idea. Tuning the slk would be almost the same price as buying a cheap car!

You guys are lucky you have a track near by, we only have pocono raceway 15 minutes away, but to get on it is a pain in the ass. Cant really just show up and get on (classes and all that of course). Always something goin on there. Nascar experience, nascar, busch, some sort of cart, or huge groups rent it out, and never let you in if you ask. And there is no little road course like track in the area.

I dunno. I think there was quite an adrenaline rush (plus some stomach acid) when those red and blue lights lit up. I might've crapped my pants at that point.

Come on... not the same. Adrenaline yep. Knowing when to push the peddle, priceless.... You've got to know when people can interfere, like CHP lights.... or cars merging from a ramp or a cross street.

Out of curiosity, Whats it like flying down Hwy 5 south of Salinas. The last time 15 years ago I was doing 80 in my VW diesel pickup and the CHP laughing at me when the big rigs were in excess of 100 mph. The CHP thought the big rigs were slow...

always go to court. call first and find out how they do things there, it varies court to court. thyey should plea some, maybe driving school. over 100 you may even want a lawyer. find out where to mail a discovery letter ,demand a copy of the officers written disposition, if radar(should be on the tix) calabration records, officers training records, mantance records of his vehicle..

sick, what is the specific violation on the citation? is it 22350, 22348(a), 23103, etc? knowing what the allegation is certainly would dictate how one proceeds. if the citation was written by a chippie he/she can (likely) just visually estimate your speed and have it stand in court without radar/laser confirmation.

bottom line is that that was just way too fast for a public roadway and you were lucky not to crash and hurt yourself and/or anybody else.

Move to the land of Autobahns and the Nurnbergring... Seriously, you'll have to swallow the pill, pay the fine, restictions whatever... Your insurance may go up (depending on your history). Some states allow you to attend a drivers safety course which may help offset the additional insurance costs and license penalties. You may want to contact a local attorney for advice??? BTW, I'm not a lawyer myself, only life long experiance down the same road... Good Luck!

Worked for me! Although I did still get a ticket, 135 in a 120 (84 mph/75 zone).

I noticed that too, but I couldn't pass on promoting jealousy.

Running fast on worn out tires????

Get a Lawyer!

Tickets in Houston get dismissed if you pay a lawyer $50 to represent you.

$50 lots cheaper than paying the fine.

100mph...Lawyer may not be able to help you with that one??

Just don't make a joke about it in court like my buddy did. The judge did NOT think it was funny when he asked him what he was doing exiting the freeway at 110mph and he answered "Slowing down".

He paid big time!

Try a Lawyer.

Hey Kevin,
Believe me I've done my part in paying off the costs of the German unification via speeding tickets. Even lost my license for a month. What's crazy is it was always in a rental car coming home from the airport. I now have my rental car reciepts and tickets being forwarded to a ghost addy in Africa. No problems since...

Default Tracks in Maryland

Does anyone know of any tracks in Maryland (Baltimore/Washington, D.C.)? Also, I would love to take a performance driving course where you learn better ways to handle the car in high performance driving.
