| As I was driving my SLK350, I noticed some xenon lights docked against my bumper. I thought nothing of it until I was forced to make an emergency maneuver to avoid a SUV and in doing so I changed lanes but the Xenon fitted car didn't want to let me change lanes and almost slammed into my rear end. I realized it was some immature kid with a S2000 trying to show his friend the power of his car. Although I don't like racing because I could be Jointly and Severally liable, I was pissed that this SUV almost hit me all because the s2000 didn't want me to change lanes. Eventually I gunned it trying to get away from this maniac of a Honda and I realized he was giving chase. He pulled next to me as if he had done nothing wrong and goaded me to race. I accepted (since I was really pissed that He and the SUV almost hit me) and we went from 50 to 110 mph. I gained about 4-5 car lengths on him and he didn't bother giving chase or do a ricer flyby. My girlfriend began to yell at me for going so fast but I honestly told her the S2000 driver asked for it. After that I drove home nice and calm. SLK350: 1 S2000: 0 |

| I keep a bag full of Xspikes in the glovebox for tailgaters. Funny to watch them floundering to the shoulder with multi flat tires. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| Good kill, S2000 are screamers, you have to really rev it up to go, but from 50 - 100 you definately had the advantage.

| I don't consider this a kill, i consider it a win because the S2K is more of car built for handling. A straight line kill doesn't mean much, try following the S2K through some bends and see what happens. |

| Yeah, but the overall internet consensus would consider this a kill. Kills posted on the internet are almost always drag races.

| depends on what forum your on, muscle car or euro forums usually post drag races. Import forums usually talk about track days and what not. Im not saying that euro or american cars don't mention track day races but, I personally don't consider beating a S2k in a straight line is worthy of mentioning. Its like saying a bugatti beats a carrera gt on a straight is a kill, but the carrera gt has the better lap time on the nurburgring. Its all opinionated though. |

| theres a video on you tube of a S2K out lapping bmw m3s and ferrari's. Theres a video of a S2K with a header back exhuast, CAI, struts and coilovers keeping up with a Challenge Stradale. The challenge stradale pulls away in the straights but the S2K gains through the bends. |

| A win is a win is a win. He didn't say his car ALWAYS beats S2000s, he says THIS time he beat an S2k. Especially when the results are surprising, it's called a kill. |

| Funny, I see a simple discussion is now picking up characteristics of racism. Nice stereotype though, I can see where you got that from. Before, I continue, I would like to clear somethings. I was born in london, england. I then moved to Kentucky after my dad found a better job as a anesthesiologist. Lexington is a great city with many SLK owners, both R170 and R171. I love my R170 and I meet on a daily basis with many car enthusiasts. If you haven't heard, lexington is the capitol of horse racing and I haven't been to a single horse race. The typical accent here isn't country, you now only find that in remote areas of the state( i.g eastern kentucky). Now, that I have cleared my background up, I'll move back to the discussion. Honda's S2000 is a great vehicle many can agree on that. My personal opinion would be that beating a S2000 in a straight line is not hard. I wouldn't consider it a kill because thats not the purpose of the car. The purpose of the car is to take those low speed bends. Now, take for example the SLK55. There is a buddy of mine in lexington who owns one with supersprint headers, eisenmann mufflers, and a renntech engine conversion. He also has bilstein shocks and H&R Springs. We went cruising one time to a place in town called Parkette where a hole bunch of car junkies and ricers meet. In that meeting, my other buddy with a stock S2K wanted to go for a race out through the country roads. The race begun and the of course the S2K shot forward of the line and was a car length ahead, till about 10 mph. The 55 shot past it gaining car lengths like no other. Eventually when I judged that we were around 1.5 miles ahead, the roads started bending and we came up to 35 mph bends. The SLK55 was taking those bends at around 70 mph which was some what close to the limit. Eventually the bends ended and we stopped at a restaurant thinking we would have to wait at least 10 minutes before the S2000 came. As soon as I said that I heard the car coming and next thing you know, it shows up. My buddy then gained alot of respect for that vehicle, considering that a stock s2k could handle that well. Ever since then I have always respected that car. Thats why when I hear people killing S2Ks, its hard for me to believe. |

| Re: kills. I think a kill is worthy of mentioning when the car is somewhat close in power. The s2000 has 237hp. Yes, it has very little torque, but weighs about 5-600lbs less. Therefore I think the kill is relevant. Now, a kill is not worth mentioning when it's Z06 vs family sedan type stuff. PS. Where are those videos of the s2000 and Ferrari, or s2000 and SLK. I'd like to see them.

| Mc, please don't take my comments as mean or bad in any manner. I was simply makin a funny comment about a fun topic. Back when I raced, we run what you brung. The one with the most work and better mods would beat everyone. Then came classes, then brackets where if you ran too fast you lost. Street racin for most has always been run what you brung, If you are sitting in a Shelby Cobra with 428 and a guy in a 4 cylinder Chevette wanted to race you,,, you raced. The fact that the Chevette was designed for commuting to and from the high school mattered not. If a Honda designed for road course racing pulls up beside a SLK55 and wants to race,,, same difference. Racism??? Hope you were joking and stereotyping, the world knows KY is the horse racing center of the world and the first horse to cross the line wins. Nothing about racism or stereotyping intended. If my comments offended you, I apologize as nothing was intended other than a laugh. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
