| Comptech is so cheap compared to Kleemann *sigh*. With this new generation of ~$35k cars coming out that will beat out the SLK350...I might really have to go for the ECU upgrade. This includes: IS350/IS500, 335i/M3Cab, G35/G37...even some cheap sedans are getting high enough hp to be even/slightly faster than our 350's, like Maxima/Altima 3.5, Accord V6 with mods... Granted, my car is super heavy with heavy 19's, a 30 pound subwoofer box and the spare in the trunk. I'm probably pulling 5.6-5.7 in 0-60 because of so much literal junk in the trunk. There's got to be more power options that what's been beaten to death...best combo for under $1000 is Green Filter/ECU upgrade ($700). After that, it gets really expensive. I'm almost out of warranty at 42k miles (I'm scared for my vario roof)...so I don't really care about voiding warranty anymore. |

| I hate the interior of the BMW. I have a E60 530i, and as soon as I sat in the 335i at the showroom, I was disgusted. BMW needs to be more creative with their interior. I love MB interiors. But fine, performance-wise, twin-turbo sounds nice and all, but did you see that magazine write-up about the 335i vs. G37 that had the G37 beating the 335i across the board, especially after the 335i's turbos gave out and the car was in "limp-home" mode? I'd stay with NA or low-boost supercharging for reliability. Exclusivity is almost minimal now. Granted I do see E90/E92 3-series here in LA like blondes in Beverly Hills...there's a couple on every block. The R171 isn't that rare now either, but I still think it looks better than any BMW. So...I guess fashion over function is the verdict, but I can always seek to improve the function part of the R171. I wouldn't buy a BMW anymore. The new W204 looks pretty ***y though. =) |

I have not seen that review but from what I've heard from my brother, the new 335i has tons of mechanical issues, not reliable at all, many people are selling them before they get worst. The 335i doesn't look bad, I'm beginning to see them around, looks better in person. Yes, the new W204 does look good.

Have to agree with this to a degree. The base 2k is a spectacular handling car for those Senna wannabe's. The 2k is really built more for handling than drag racing. However, you don't want to drag a 2k with a GT35R either and believe me they exist!

However, that mentioned, no way stock that 2k beats you at those speeds.

Being passed by a Miata means I have a lot to learn. S2000 can do well on the track, but SLK can handle really well, and had one (S2000) spin in front of me several times this weekend.

| I have both an '01 S 2000 and an '07 SLK. The S 2000, with its stock intake, is certainly not a drag car. In fact, in hot weather, it can be a real "dog" at acceleration. However, with air intake mods that bring in cool ram air from in front of the radiator, it pulls very nicely indeed. From a start-off at only 2K rpm, it will just zip right up there! All with a $200 mod. But I must emphasize that the benefits from this mod should be used to enhance safety, such as smooth traffic merging, and not for dangerous and aggressive driving. |
