The typical accent here isn't country, you now only find that in remote areas of the state( i.g eastern kentucky). Now, that I have cleared my background up, I'll move back to the discussion. Honda's S2000 is a great vehicle many can agree on that. My personal opinion would be that beating a S2000 in a straight line is not hard. I wouldn't consider it a kill because thats not the purpose of the car. The purpose of the car is to take those low speed bends. Now, take for example the SLK55.... My buddy then gained alot of respect for that vehicle, considering that a stock s2k could handle that well. Ever since then I have always respected that car. Thats why when I hear people killing S2Ks, its hard for me to believe.
That is why going to track day, really shows you what you got and how well you drive. Last track day, I was getting busted by small Miata's and Lotus, even though I have a bigger engine, they handle much better through tight turns (racing slicks also make a big difference). It comes down to how well you can drive your car and the ability to get though the track. I have seen S2K's perform poorly on a track and some that do well. Mostly has to do with the driver.

The guy my friend raced tracks his S2000 every weekend so he has moderate experience.

Default I got owned by a S2000

Sad, sad day. I was on the 134 East (this is in LA), cruising at 80mph by myself, all of a sudden a red S2000 pulls up behind me fast and tails me, he pulls into the next lane and downshifts (I know he's gonna go), so I downshift too and take off. Between 80 and 120mph, he slowly gains 2 car lengths on me, and after 120, he takes off. I lift my foot off when I hit 140mph, but by then he was 8 car lengths ahead of me. I was like no f***ing way, there were 2 people in the S2000!

Is the VTEC at high revs adding that much more power?

Doesn't sound likely unless he has a SC/TC on that thing, which is very likely as alot of S2000's are going that route. The S2000 and the SLK350 is evenly matched, a driver's race, but with add weight, one extra person, and at 80mph and up, stock vs stock, you should win. I would not feel too bad, doubt if it's NA.

Here's the R&D comparisons.

http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/d...data_panel.pdf

I've driven the S2K on several occassions, and it doesn't feel fast, probably due to the low torque, especially at 5200 feet and up, it screams but doesn't feel like it goes, unlike my SLK, it feels really fast. I envy people that live in sea level, I remember driven my cousin's minivan and I thought it was superfast, cars breathe much easier at lower elevation.

that was a good kill. I'm not a big fan of S2000, although it's a sport convertible with reasonable price range~!

I feel the same on "cars breathe much easier at lower elevation" too. I was from Colorado as well, and after I bought my perious car to Cali, my car runs alot faster~!

MCFaisal, calm down. The poster was not talking smack about S2000, he simply posted about his experience racing one on a highway. All this thread was about was some stupid immature S2K driver thinking he could outgun the SLK and loosing, end of story. In this particular scenario, the race was a drag race and the SLK won. When one car outperforms another car, its a kill. It doesn't matter if its on a race track, a drag strip, a mountain road, or whatever. A kill is a kill. You get challanged to a race, you race , you win. End of story. Why even start arguing about other potential scenarios? What are you trying to prove to us man?

SLK350 vs. S2000 the 350 should take the win because of the huge torque advantage..

most S2000s have mods done to them as they aren't as expensive to mod as the SLK. Everyone who owns S2000 here in my town( around 15 of them) only one is bone stock. At most the S2000 does 0-60 in 5.2 seconds w/ a amazing driver. The 350 does it in 5.4 if im not mistaken.

The issue here is MCFaisal has a different definition for a kill compared the rest of us. For him, a kill is when the black horse wins, for us a kill is whenever the challenge is answered and is defeated.

I've never seen a stock run 5.2 secs to 60mph, I thought it was a 14 sec 1/4 mile car, I know it's top speed is a couple of miles slower in the 1/4, on the top end the SLK should pull from it easily. From a stop light, it's a driver's race. The S2000 is a big go-kart so I'm not surprise at it's handling capabilities, I was trolling the s2ki.com forum and it seems like everyone beats it, I highly doubt that, I know a stock SLK vs a stock S2000 at this elevation (5200 ft up), the SLK will win, the s2k loose alot more hp here, it's lack of torque doesn't help either, regardless, the s2k is a fun car, I would get it if I couldn't afford a SLK.

So we all know SLK350 should be faster than a S2000 stock for stock from a standstill.

My experience being the victim of a kill was from cruising at 80mph, going up to 130mph. Since the hp/torque curves of our engine vs. the F20C S2000 engine (depending on model year) are different, how would the SLK350 compare to a stock S2000 at cruising speeds? Do you think the S2000 was modded? The simple I/H/E + ECU will probably give it another 25hp I'm sure.

But here's the thing. The guy(?) in the s2k wasn't looking for him to book track time to see who would get their ass kicked. It was a simple "hey man! You think you're so cool in your SLK? Eat this!" So, he was eaten, digested and, well, you know what happens next!

I highly doubt that it was stock because my best friend has a bone stock S2000 and I have a SLK230. I raced him from a standstill and he pulled away and after 20 seconds of gunning it he was 4 car lengths ahead. So if you have a 350 stock for stock you should be able to take a S2 both low and high speeds. The faster you go the more you should gain on the s2. Back here in lexington,ky 80% of the s2 owners have mods done to their cars. The craziest s2 I have seen is one w/ a s/c which does the quarter mile in 12 seconds( probably faster w/ better tires) it has around 450RWHP according to the owner which sounds about right.

Also, was the car loud, thats the first thing most s2 owners do is change the exhaust system...

The S2K wasn't loud, and appeared bone stock. That's what puzzled me the most. Say it was a 2006/2007 S2000, no chance they could beat me bone stock right?

06, 07, you should beat it stock for stock, given you don't redline or mis-shift, most honda's don't have loud exhaust b/c it's not cool anymore. But like I said before it's very rare to see a non-modded one on the road.
