Good deal Ben!

Over the past few weeks I've had the opportunity to hit 155mph. Both with the top up and down.

I know what you're all saying, 230's TS is 150mph. I have a slight downhill grade where I manage this. When I get the opportunity again (usually every other Saturday or Sunday mornings going to work) I'll get some video.

Goran, I'm not sure I understand, although I do appreciate your concern.

If the tires are rated to 150mph what harm is the occasionaly run to 150 or 155? I should also say I'm at that speed for less than a minute given the amount of real estate that passes by.

sorry for going OT . . .

I got to about 165mph with my car before running out of road... unfortunately I did not record that run. I do, however, have a 25-150mph run recorded. BTW, my top speed now should be 190mph, I'll give it a try soon. The car feels totally solid at 150mph+, it feels like you're going maybe 100mph. Even the wind noise is minimal with the top up!:

My topspeed is 230km/h (+-143mph) in my standard SLK 200 (R171)... last saturday on the 'german Autobahn'... . But on gps it only showed 220 km/h (+- 136mph) at that same speed.

Hi Peter,

welcome here!
Enjoy your car and this page.

But pay attention even on the German Autobahn, if those signs appear.

Thanks for the warning, but I am very carefull in a foreign country in case of speed limits, but if there is no limit on the road... well... the only limits that are applied are those from traffic, my car and my capabilities...

That's right Mohamed ...

I try to take the "safest" area : just after a toll gate (not before) ....

At this speed, the french law is clear : fine is 1500€, driving licence canceled for a duration up to 3 years.

Default It's great to hit a personal best

I drove my 1998 SLK 230 R170 up to 134 MPH on a Canadian highway.

I had the top down, and pedal to the metal. I don't think my 10 year old SLK (with 95,000+) miles had any more to give.

It was pretty exhilerating!

After hitting 1000 miles, my personal best was 150 on my SLK in Germany. Slowed down afterwards because it was a speed reinforced by camera zone.

300 km/h (187,5 Mph) is my personal in my Kleemann, guess it could be a bit more if we drop the 300 limit............

The CK35 upgrade from Carlsson is installed to my 350 about one year.
On June, 29 I could take the opportunity to test whether the limiter is really removed. On that evening the final of the European Championship in soccer took place: Germany vs. Spain, the streets were empty.

I drove the Autobahn 27 between Bremen and Bremerhaven (about 50 km distance). The 350 managed the flying distance of 2 km four times in 26.4 sec. (272 km/h or 170 mph). q.e.d.
But with this velocity you perceive curves which wasn't there before.

We drove the SLK to see my in laws and they asked what was the fastest we ever got up to. We actually never drove faster than 80 mph, so I took the opportunity to take it on a flat country road and got up to 130 mph before the wind made me feel like it would take our plexi windscreen off. On my next run we put the top up and got up to 110, but saw another car coming so stopped after that. I'm satisfied that the car is faster than I need it to be.

Default 145 MPH 3 times in 05 SLK 350

I hit 145 MPH 3 times during a single day driving through central Oregon.

I couldn't get it over that - goal was to hit the limiter. However, we did have 2 people, a full tank of gas and a trunk full of luggage - so we were certainly heavy.

Saved the top speed on my Garmin as a nice reference.
