| Not to brag, but coming home every day, the road of highway i take is walled off, not allowing cops to get in, with no bridges or any place for them to hide. So there is alot of spirited driving there. Just about every day i get someone, and let them have it. I try not to, im not really a street racer person, but i feel as if I have to, to not let them think they got me. I dunno probably just a pride thing. But the reason why i think so many people try to push me is because they really dont know about the SLK. I mean everyone knows about EVO's and STI's, Mustangs, vettes, the more popular sports cars etc. But the average motorist or street racing kid doesnt. So i get many of a "tuned" honda, mazda, everyday ricer, and the occasional rally car, or mustang who challenges me. And just about everyday they are hearing my exhaust start growling as i pull away. IMO i think people with those cars see the little two seater benz car and are like, o I can take this. Ill show this expensive car that my mustang, civic, etc is way faster than his. You know something along those mind sets. Now i would say im a pretty good driver so a car of equal speed and power needs to out drive me to beat me. So a lesser car has no chance. But my biggest smile from all the "kills" i have gotten would be when a slight turn comes, and they slow down, and i actually stay the speed or accelerate through it. Nothing like having a better handling car than a big fast lead sled IMHO. I guess it comes from picking your battles too. I mean the 350 only has 268hp, which is alot, but nothing to really go braggin about in the sports car game. So i wouldnt really challenge a vet, for fear of the one i pick out or picks me, is a z06. In which case i might as well be riding a pedal bike. So its a little bit of a ramble, but do you guys ever notice the same thing out on your streets? |

| Most of the import ricers thinks my SLK is some crazy MB exotic, the huge quad tips, 19"s wheels, 13" cross dilled rotors, and lowering stance scares them. I think I'm going to debadge my SLK. I've notice even when there's an open lane, they usually pulls behind me and they rarely pull right next to me, usually about 1/2 car behind, maybe trying to admire and get a better look. I don't get challenge too much but when I do it's usually some young kid in a mustang. There was a red VW GTI that took off on me, I could hear it's loud aftermarket exhaust, I didn't know we were racing, on the next traffic light. I decided to give him what he wanted, he kept up on 1st and 2nd gear but when I shifted to 3rd, I left him way behind, he didn't want to race at the 3rd traffic light. I'm not interested in drag racing as most of my commute are on local roads with speed limit of 35mph.

| I don't play that much but when I do I get surpised sometimes by the cars that beat me and very suprised at the ones that I can take ---- can't tell whats in the package from the wrappings. Lots of people want to play I think it must be the color of our SLK

| I don't get challenged here as most of my driving is autobahn and we're already into triple digits. I just get long stares due to the fasinating combination of being a copper(orange) SLK. It's a rarity even here.

| I find the most eager and disappointed drivers who try and race me are the Mustangs. There are a lot more muscle drivers than ricers in my area and except for a niiiiiice BMW 6 series, the German imports are not very spirited. |

| Tell that to the guy that drove started his Audi and drove straight into my driver's door. I guess cell phones do make you blind, even straight ahead blind. Speaking of which, a Durango thought he would be cute and show my big black (longer then the LS) rental Pontiac Grand Prix up around the toll way exit, but he wasn't prepared for how crazy the driver was. What amounts to a left turn at the end, I threw the Grand Prix through at 60 MPH, in full four wheel drift, going slightly sideways. Good thing they had a run off going straight, as at full braking he still went past the turn. I hate front wheel drive. Using the throttle is so much more "civilized" then the emergency brake. Actually, I was surprised the Grand Prix handled that well. I was into automatic mode, and fogot I wasn't driving the SLK when I got to the corner. I usally come off the toll way at 74 MPH and put the SLK in neutral. It slows to around 50 going up hill, but then gains speed towards the end because of downhill. I take the corner around 65 MPH and let the car coast all the way until the next light. The best one I did was through the toll both to the casueway, top down, with a Ferrari 360 berlinetta on my left, 360 spyder top down on my right, all three of us hit it coming from around 50 MPH and I stayed close up until 140 with Frank grabing the dash and screaming "this is NOT the autobahn!" The guy in the spyder gave me the thumbs up, and I gave up while they continued up to God-Knows-How-Fast... At 140, my V6 was starting to strain, and they were just hitting their stride. When I let off the gas, it was like I put the brakes on full, they just disappeared. Fortunaly, it was late and empty road. I have seen an idiot in a "A Mighty Gain (AMG)" of weight CL65 racing a twin turbo Porsche Carrera turbo, at speeds over 140 MPH, weaving through 5 PM traffic and using the shoulders. That CL65, at double the Porsches' weight, was like throwing a castle at a corolla. One wrong move and many would have died. Actually, the Porsche almost hit me, if I wouldn't have reacted quickly and changed lanes, he overestimated his braking power. To see them both not hit anything, was to feel God's presence directly.... And be reminding that stupid people are lucky... |

| that stinx that someone hit your kids car .Ya thats what the amazing thing about ferrari's, they just keep going. I like how alot of poeple with tuned out cars are like, o I can beat a ferrari in 0-60 or 0-100. Ok good for you, now go from 100 to 150 and see who gets there faster, and or do it in a full turn. Any car can go fast in a straight line. Im just amazed by those cars, and just amazed that a V6 does this well against some of those supercars. |

Sounds like......Those kids with Honda Civic's that will run 10 secs.....But the entire interior of the car has been stripped out and they only weigh 2000 lbs or less. At the end of the day when they pull it in the garage its still a Honda. Are you referring to me above? I have said that before that's why I asked?
