| This past week, the kids were away with their grandparents. It gave my wife and I the opportunity to relax and play. On Friday, I called and told her to meet me at the movies. We watched 'Grindhouse.' Afterwards we left in our cars; me in the SLK55 and her in the recently acquired '07 X3. Having fun, we kept playing with eachother on the road, cat and mouse style. It was pretty fun and it's always nice to flirt with the wife (at least that's what onlookers probably thought. Well, we made it onto the freeway and the playing continued. Three miles before our exit, there is a stoplight. After that stoplight, there's 2 lanes of road ahead.... smooth as butter. Well, we weren't lined up but after passing a couple cars, the road was completely clear. I hammered it and took it up to around 130mph. My eyes were shifting between the road ahead (looking for roadkill), rear-view mirror (looking for my wife) and opposite traffic (looking for Highway Patrol). After cruising at triple-digit speeds for a while, I eased off the throttle. Here comes the wife. I could see her grinning from a mile away. She caught up a bit before the exit. I was going about 85 at the time in the right lane. As she passed me, she turned and smiled. Ha ha. Just past her smile, I could see Highway Patrol going the opposite direction. I couldn't help but to stare at him across the newly mowed median. My wife continued on passing several cars before merging into the right lane for the exit. The HP lit up his brakes and made it across the median. I thought S**t! This car is a ticket magnet. I kept bodily composure even though my mind was jumping up and down like a childhood tantrum. F me, I am a sitting duck right now. He caught up just as I took the exit at speed limit. He was on my *ss. Damn it, I'm F'ed. I continued waiting for the flashing lights. Instead, he zooms past me and gets behind my wife. Whoops! She gets busted! I thought for sure it was me! Anyways, I do the not-so-manly thing... I kept going! Why let him bust two of us! One ticket is enough. Minutes later, I'm at home calling my wife on her cell. Three cop cars are with her. After a little flirting and apologies, she still gets a ticket. However, he said she was traveling around 100mph. The ticket given was for 79mph in a 65mph zone. Too bad she can't go to school this time. This one's going on the record.

| all in all, it sounds like you two came out of it pretty well. the 79 in a 65 was probably a big break. i don't know about up there, but down in so cal, 15 or more over prohibits traffic school, so it sounds as though the officer was trying to be generous. i gotta know... did mama kick your butt for not coming to her rescue????? |

| Her rescue? Are you kidding, a gurl has a much better chance of scapin without a boy helpin. If he had stopped, the officer would have thrown the book and pencil at her. Try that esplainin to her maybe she will forgive you. Mean ol police anyway, lettin all them felons scape an hasslin a gurl. |

| Fight or flee? I decided on the latter. There's no point sticking around. I figured the best way to help my wife> Get out of her way! I called and told her to apologize and use some charm. Well, the flirting got it reduced a little. TBH, I thought she'd be a little pissed at me. Instead, she wasn't. In all, it's a funny story. She thinks I'm a bad influence. She's probably right but I didn't make her speed. That was her decision. I told her no more street racing for her. Instead, I'l sign her up for some AutoX.

| I think you did the right thing, get out the way and let her sweet talk her way out of it. It seems to work well for my wife. Sorry to hear that it ended that way, it would have been a fun day

| Not yet. I really need to get one. However, he was moving so I doubt the VAlentine would have helped in this situation.
