Toyota made some truly useful cars in the mid-to-late 90's, some really reliable and economic cars. My girlfriend drives a '97 Tercel that still purrs like a cat and gets 40mpg commuting to work (on 87-octane!). It's no SLK for sure, but it's a great little car. I really like the Toyotas, but their newer cars are really starting to go downhill quality-wise in my opinion, and for some reason, their gas mileage is just really starting to suck. The new Scion TC, for instance, only gets about 25mpg on the freeway. | |

| Everyone loves the SLK. Some of you have read my car pulling more attention then a ferrari. Its one of the best cars and there is almost a "wrangler wave" culture with the owners of our cars. Everyone knows that german cars are for those who want a stylish and plush car that is well built. I used to have a 05 jeep grand cherokee with the 330 hp hemi which was a decent american car that did exactly what all american cars do except the corvette and viper... Go really fast in a straight line but cannot turn for anything (The Corvette and Viper just oversteer you into the wall instead of understeer into it). The jeep had the added off road capability which made it amazing to have and very convenient but the interior was crap. Some of my favorite moments in that car was stop light dragging against souped up civics and absolutely crushing them in a SUV. I do have some respect for the japanese cars but they are just nothing there for me. |

| A little story about MB (SRT6) and a modded S2000. We were on a day run with the Xfire group on highway 10 I think outside of Las Vegas we were in a line ( 15 cars) and I was at the back of the pack when this S2000 came flying by well I could not resist so I turned the car loose but one of the Xfires 4 cars ahead of me came out of line to pursue saw me coming up and moved over quickly but I still had to brake and then get on it again --- took me less than a 1/4 mile to catch him @130 mph pulled along side of him and just goosed it to rock the front end up and down he floored it and so did I and we walked away from him I hit about 140 and then backed off . The guy driving it was about my age. Next day our group took a run up to the mountains and at one of the rest area's we ran into a group of S2000 all younger men and we got to talking and the son of the one I had raced was there his dad had told him about the SRT6 well we exchange looks at each others cars and they knew about the SRT6 but had never ran against one --- results were they were very nice and we all admired each others cars for what they were --- but going down the hills the Xfire could not keep up in the corners but would catch them in the straights. By the way we use the term tuners and ricers but never us the J or N word as it is considered as a derogatory to them and their heritage this could be one reason for them coming down on us. I agree that they trash each other and us on their forums but in the end they are car people and we each deserve to be treated with respect. Sorry for the rant ![]()
