OK, I want to remove the CD changer taking up all of the glove compartment in my 2007 SLK. I looked at some of the other posts and understand (I think) about the hidden catches and latches at the top.
The question I have is what do I do with the disconnected fiber optic MOST cable? I'm guessing that I need a coupler of some sort to connect the input and outputs together so that the ring stays intact. Does anyone know what this part is?
Any other advice about getting this part out?
I have really enjoyed that my main (COMMAND NTG2) display unit reads MP3 DVD's and stores a huge collection of music. That plus the aux input jack in the glove compartment means that I'm not wanting for music (plus I have Sirius). So the changer can go and I can get my glove compartment back.
Thanks!

There was a post on using the coupler to restore the MOST fiberoptic I-O connections. This was awhile ago. DAnsSLK/UK-C200/Admantium may know and prolly give you the part number.
In the meantime try the Advanced Search feature and see what info may be out there.
I'm glad your COMAND can read mp3's on DVD as my 2008 head unit will not (confirmed by using other members' burnt DVD this past weekend). Not a biggie for me as I rarely listen to the radio nor music.

On the DVD MP3 issue, I might mention that when I put a DVD with MP3's in the unit, it first says "CD ERROR" and then it just starts working - there is a few moments of disk reading, and then it seems to just work fine - I get a list of folders on the disk and I can select from that. I have about 600 songs or so on the DVD and its only half full. But I do get an error message first.
I found a you-tube video from itronics on removing the CD player from the SLK but it does not say what to do about the fiber optic loop - the video is about adding the bluetooth interface to the SLK.
With the command system, all of the audio compnents are on the MOST fiber optic network. This is a ring type network - each component has an input and output, and the entire ring must be intact for it to work. Taking out a component (like the CD Changer) breaks the ring and nothing will work unless the ring is joined again with a coupler.

Hmm, missed this post. SpaceDuck is right, if you have any device other than the CD changer on the bus, you need to couple the MOST fibers to keep the loop intact. I'm 99% sure that the current part number for the fiber coupler is A0005454484.
