IMO , this is nothing special...the concept has actually been around for a few years and uses They essentially use "water glass" or silcone silicates.

The registered trademark is, IMO, a gimmick and there are many products on the market that are, IMO, superior to "Water Glass" in both durabilty and looks. (The paint "breathing" is kind of a funny thought)

Chemical Guys makes WET MIRROR FINISH ULTRA SLICK NON-STICK GLOSS MAGNIFIER which is similar. There are other companies that have also use "water glass".

You can do a search on the auto detailing sites and get many opinions of this stuff.

(Just curious are you associated with Glare in any way?)

I don't know about this product but the stuff on my car is excellent.

Out of curiosity, why would you want to spend a lot of time waxing your car year after year?

no connection just found it pop up on a internet link.

That's the point i don't want to spend all my time waxing. this looked as if it might be a good solution as you only have to wash it and i had never heard of it.
But seems it may be old hat and another "polish scam". Costs lots offers little.

I saw a commercial of Turtle Wax Liquid Ice.

Just spray it on and wipe it and it is a wet look shine.

My Merc dealer uses Protect-All on all the cars so I use that on my car.
You can buy it at walmart in the RV section. (I have not seen it in the car wax section?)

http://www.protectall.com/

I can tell you first hand the shine stays and the surface stays like slick glass.

I guess it is all basically the same stuff...just depends on how much time and effort you want to spent making your car shine.

It works for me!

Don't knock it - it actually 'turns your paint into glass' and 'makes your windows look like glass' Contains 'No wax, No silicone, No resins, No polymers, No acrylic, No Teflon' - must be pure, unadultarated snake oil

I read the OP's link about this product and service, and my first impression was that it is incredibly expensive. Also, it does not appear available other than in the UK. As citidave does not want to spend all his time waxing his car (who does?) I have an alternate suggestion. I use Autoglym Radiant Wax Polish (really a chemical cleaner and glaze) followed by Autoglym Hardwax1. I've given all my vehicles this treatment, some over a year ago. They all still bead water and shine right back up after a wash. These are great products for those how don't want to wax every month, and are certainly not "snake oil." Autoglym is made in the UK, and is recommended by Rolls Royce, Aston martin, and (oh yes) the Royal Family. Very easy to apply and buff. Cost me about $25 - $30 per liter here in the US.

Actually, you can do a nice job of making your car glass look better and be more resistant to rain and embedded bug spots by simply cleaning it well and waxing it with your favorite wax. Much quicker than the Rain-X stuff, which is pretty labor-intensive. How long it lasts depends on what wax you use. For more than six months after I use Autoglym Hardwax1 on my windows and windshield, water still beads and blows off.

(Note: I do not sell Autoglym products, and have no financial interests in that product line. I merely find it outstanding, and want to share this info with fellow enthusiasts.)

I use Autoglym Super Resin Polish followed by a final coat of Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection, and am very pleased with the results.

Woolly:

We are using the same products! I buy my products form a local Mercedes certified body shop, through commercial channels, in the one liter size. Buying this way results in different product names, for some reason I don't understand. Your products are identical, and have the names given the products when they are sold in smaller quantities in the consumer retail channels.

It is worth a try. It looks like 1/2 liter for $26 USD. That is about twice what I have been paying for the two step products. But it could be worth it. Must try it.

Huh? I cleaned the window with Windex, let it dry and put the Rain-X on with a paper towel. Took maybe 10 minutes. ?

Maybe there is a new Rain-X that is more complicated?

I think the opposite may be true. Perhaps there is a NEW Rain-X that is easier to use than that which I tried a few years back. I'll check it out.

Why you guys need to wax and polish your cars anyway? MB paint is the best paint in the world, It's like Liquid glass. Just wash it once a month, and dust it of with
California duster twice a week. I clean my wheels every time I drive my car, using an old cotton / polester Sock. Love this site, and look at it every day.

Starting with the 2005 model year (for most models) MB went to a "nano-technology" paint and clear coat which is much harder and a bit brighter than their former paint and process. BUT, as it is a harder surface, we need to protect it from scuffs, small scratches, swirls, and the like -- because these are more difficult to polish out than with the older paint and clear coat. The best way to do this is with a good cleaning, polishing and waxing. The good news is that the new harder finish with more shine makes this job easier for us. And such jobs last longer -- up to a year if the car is garaged when not in use. A good wax job with a wax that is also hard will allow easier removal of bug remains. It will protect the finish from bird droppings, which are the best clear coat remover known to man! A good wax job also speeds washing, as the rinse water beads and can easily be removed -- mostly with an electric leaf blower. As it gives a slicker surface, it makes use of a California Duster easier and quicker too.
