You can touch-up the affected area by slowly building up the paint layers until it is less observable. I was thinking of the Lanka blob eliminator in the past but have no experience with the product.

My previous used car came with a few scratches and paint chips. I have touched up small chips with no problems. The Lanka blob remover works great on smaller chips, but larger chips and scratches needed painting, then wet sanding with 2000 grit sandpaper, then polishing with compound. After I was done, nobody could tell there were chips on our previous car.

I'm waiting for a nice weekend before trying to touch up our SLK. The MB dealer touch up kit comes with a bottle of the color and a clear coat.

Scott, have it (windshield chip) fixed by a professional from the auto glass repair company. I had two spider type stone chips on the windshield in the first 3 months and after fixing, it was almost invisible unless you know where it is and look real close at it.

Mine was covered by the corp. that did the windshield coating (Diamond Fusion), supposedly to lessen the chance of stone chips, i.e., requires a stronger force to do it, but it happened nonetheless.

I also have Allstate Auto insurance. Minor windshield repair is covered without a deductible. They usually subcontract with the auto glass repair shops. They are mobile and they come to your place. Give your auto insurance agent a call.

The clear resin they use is better than the ones at auto supply store and the vacuum they use removes the air more effectively to make the repair less observable.

I had my windshield repaired for the previous 350 just before I return it to the dealer. They use the Novus windshield repair technology by injecting a specially formulated resin into the damaged area. The resin is then cured and polished to restore structural strength and clarity to the glass. The result is very good and the repair is very hard to notice unless you know it is there. The earlier you do it, the better the result. More infor and locations -> http://www.novusglass.com/novuslocations.cfm
