| Well this was covered some place recently but couldn't find the thread ---- Had the new SL treated TOUCH OF CLASS (Cal Tex) anyway before the first wash I noticed small to medium rings grey to white all over the car ---- washed using their wash and filtered water and used their restorer --- no luck --- tried everything short of rubbing compound --- no luck Called the co., and filled out paper work for claim --- got a call back in 2 days they set up for a car detailer to come to our house and evaluate --- he said looked like water and or chemical spots --- no problem he did an acid wash which removed the spots then retreated the car ,at our house --- looks beautiful --- no charge He said these coating protect against UV primarily and spotting second ---- his advice ; use (Meguiars) clay bar once a year( more if washing won't clean) and their Gold Class wax 2 coats to start and then once every 3 months and use quick detailer to clean in between. Use only commercial grade Micro fiber cloths use heavy waffle type Micro fiber towel to dry and buff and finer ones for application. His tip for windows --- use any window cleaner but dilute it 50/50 with pure water (no ammonia) Again Mirco cloth 1 for wash ,1 for dry He said other brands are out there and can be used but after 20 years he likes the one mentioned. Note ;;washing of Micro fiber --- never mix wax applicator and buff ones with window cleaning ones NEVER use fabric softner. Sorry for the long post but this may be of help to some of you

| Thanks Gene The original owner of my car had PermaPlate Paintguard applied at the dealer (MB of Laguna Niguel). It's maintenance free, looks good, and as hard as nails. No need to wax, shiny new after wash, and can take hits with road debris. I'm going to consider it on my next vehicle. |

| Yes the Meguairs' Quick detailer works very well- and the smell is... addicting! :-) On a good surface it certainly thows down a good highly reflectve shine. They also sell some comperable "EFX" or some such "extreme" detailer spray that I figured was the same stuff bottled for the Scion/Element crowd. I just used some a few minutes ago to catch a couple of bugs on the car before the wife rolled out to work. It's like a silver Jelly Belly... |
