Default Don't Forget To Use The Clay Bar!

My son just got his dream car two days ago - an '07 Mustang GT. Beautiful car.

So, the first thing we did yesterday morning was to take this beautiful, factory clean and polished car and give it the Zaino treatment. We started with the Dawn soap wash then went to the clay bar.

Man! You should have seen the junk the clay took out of this seemingly spotless, brand new finish! Large hunks of black pieces of something (rail dust?) were all over the place. The finish actually looked lighter when we were finished.

Just thought I'd pass this on as a reminder of how important it is to clay your finish. I'm convinced.

Congrats to your son for the great addition , The Mustang GT is one of the nicest cars on the roads so is the SLK, But I love how it has the classic look ; It is a nice car for aftermarket accessories.

Can you post pictures please?

I'll have to agree, the car feels alot smoother and cleaner after the clay. Don't forget to clay the wheels as well, you'll be amazed at all the stuff that it'll pick up.

You're supposed to clay the wheels too? And my wife thinks I have OCB (obsessive-compulsive behavior). I gotta do the wheels tomorrow.

Clay bars are used with lubricants to remove minute dirt/impurities that stick on the paint. It is generally done after washing the car with dishwashing detergent, like Dawn, as this removes old wax. Claying also removes residual wax. The paint finish is quite smooth to the touch after claying. The paint finish is then washed with car shampoo after claying and wax/polymer must be applied after using the clay bar.
