Clearcoat Peeling

I have a fairly large section under the driver's side driving light where the clearcoat has peeled. Would I be able to compound & wax the area to bring back the shine? I know the obvious thing to do would be get it repainted, but I'm holding off until I can get the whole thing repainted to include the ugly black strip that goes around the bottom of the car.

I'm open to any and all suggestions...

Kevin, are you saying under the left side head light? Is that a plastic bumper piece thats pealing? Can you apply a new clear coat?

The next question is silly but will the new paint job be

how about making it a Designo AMG SLK instead of just painting the bottom?

Here's a pic...I suppose I could apply a new clearcoat. I've done that to crafts and stuff, never considered it for automotive applications.

As for color...Tom...you needant ask.

Excuse the bug guts...Spring is all a buzz here! As soon as I clean it, its dirty again after a drive to work. Its tough for the bugs to get out of the way at 120.

Do you mean R171 upgrade or tupperware. I guess they call it "facelift" around here. I have considered that. I just don't want to get too far from stock with visual mods. And I don't want to give the appearance its something its not.

What i mean is the SLK 32 bodykit? or the brabus bodykit? The SLK 32 body kit could be had as a sport package without the engine, no?

I believe so. As a matter of fact, Brent (SLKman) has that very kit on his designo copper.

Would really compliment it because it looks subtle and can be ordered from the factory with the car.
