Default What is part # 210025?

I just got back from a 5000+ mile road trip. (pics to come later). I was hosing off the front of the car to get some of the MANY bugs off and this part came loose from somewhere, but I don't know where. It is about 4 inches in diameter and has a friction grip center hub. My guess would be behind the star, but it doesn't seem to really be the right size.

So what is it and where does it go?

Did this come off from the front half of the car or the back half of the car?

As I said, I was hosing off the front. I actually I was using a power sprayer (carefully) trying to get the bugs out of the radiator. When I was done spraying, I noticed it on the ground at the front center below the bumper. Looks to me like the size that would cover an oil filter or something? Of course, maybe it doesn't even belong to the SLK

I looked with a shop light underneath the car and there's nothing that resembles the part as photographed. It probably is not part of the R171.

It does look like a cover for something. How about the other cars at home?

I don't recognize that piece, the part number doesn't seem to be a MB one either, they are more like X (letter) YYY YYY YY YY (numbers).

Pop the hood and take a look around for anything obvious but it would be odd for a piece of the under hood junk to bust away and slide perfectly between the openings in the floor pan.

I already looked around under the hood. Nothing obvious. Very strange. I'm sure the driveway had nothing in it before I started hosing. I was afraid to drive the SLK fearing that part was necessary for something. Guess I will just drive it and see what happens. Kind of reminds me of the "Gods must be crazy" movie. I'm beginning to think it just dropped from the heavens

Okay, guys. I figured out what it was!!!

Thinking of the "Gods must be crazy" made me think, "Maybe it isn't FROM the SLK".

Guess what? My power washer is missing a black wheel. <g> Apparently, as I was dragging the thing around, the wheel popped off.

Well, that was fun. Maybe we should make this a regular feature: "Guess what this part comes from?"

Sorry for the confusion and thanks.

I'm just relieved it wasn't something from the car.

That's awesome! Thanks for the laughs. You have a great idea with the "What is this?" thread.

We should have some sort of contest where the winner who correctly identifies something gets a prize.
