Question Shaking Drivers side Mirror

Here's another one for you buddy.

I noticed that my drivers side (LHD) mirror is shaking while i'm over rough roads. Now the entire housing is not shaking, just the actual mirror itself.

No damage has been done to the mirror (no one smaked it on the street or anything) it just started shaking as if it is loose.

Everything else is working, heating, tinting, and rotation... any idea whats going on?

It could be that it is as you say loose it is not the most securely mounted mirror i have seen thats for sure.

The heating and tinting normally are OK even if the mirror glass have been completely disconnected from the mounts because they are just connected to it via cables.

The mounting point behind the mirror glass could have become partly disengaged from the mount on the housing, do you want to try and remove it then do a re-install see if it helps?

I will be happy to help you with the process

Cheers
Dan

If the steps are not extremely complex, i would like to do the re-install.

Thanks Dan.

Its not so much complex as awkward it is just clipped on but you have to unlatch the clips with the glass in place but that is basically the only step there is.

I think it would be a good idea to remove the whole mirror triangle before you start work on it however all the pushing and pulling on the glass is not going to do the door alignment any favours if it is attached.

Sound OK to you mate?

Sounds good. If you can post the direction mirror should be moved to, or some other steps of the sort, i think i can manage.

Thanks again Dan

OK mate first off removing the triangle -

1) Make sure the window is down

2) Unclip the inside mirror triangle with the speaker inside of it just use a screwdriver on it there are no screws or anything just prise it off you will be able to see the point where the triangle joins the frame by looking down the window runner on the door.

3) The door has a section made from a different plastic to the rest of it visible when the door is opened but hidden by the console when it is closed you will know the bit i mean just down from the triangle again simply prise it off from the hooks that hold it in place and remove it.

4) Unplug the connectors from the door control module that should now be visible.

5) Remove the three bolts in the triangle that hold the housing in place whatever you do don't let them fall down into the door.

6) Slide the whole housing out of the door move it towards the front of the car your going to need the door open for most of the removal in installation of the housing so be careful when your working on it that you don't apply any weight to the door itself the housing should move forward and then disengage from a clip that should remain attached from the door once that is done just lift it away and pull the electrical wires out of the door.

One this is done you can take the housing wherever you want to work on it so it will be much easier to do the job.

To reinstall it do the reverse of what i have posted and the bolts are torqued to 2.5NM

Sound OK so far mate?
