Default tracking adjustment

Hi Dan,

May i ask two questions please.

1] i had earlier mentioned a soft thunking sound coming from the right front suspension. I am getting it checked among other things with the dealer. I sometimes feel that the car is a bit more unstable around corners nowadays. The dealer offered to correct the toe, camber etc by video recording at a cost of 190£ after doing anything necessary to the suspension. I have no uneven wear of tyres. Is this worth the money?

2]My extended warranty on my car [2004 SLK 200 , 21000 miles] is coming to an end. I would like some general advice about extended warranty - basically what are the options etc.

Thanks for your time.

Not sure i understand question one mate sorry

For Q2 that all depends on how reliable your car has been, MB will have warranties available to you at a price and the cover gets less as the car gets older.

How many hours has your car spent at the dealer since you took out your current warranty.

Thanks Dan

I told the dealer that the car is slightly more unsettled on roundabouts than usual. Then he offered to check the tracking, toe and camber [i think i got that right] by getting it on a special ramp and video recording the wheels as they turn. Apparently this is two and a half hour labour and hence costs 190£ including VAT.

Since i got the car with the extended warranty, it has been in once when the roof was not opening and subsequently the driver side door control module was replaced. Then again i took it in to check out the sound on turning the wheel full lock at slow speed. The power steering fluid was just topped up. So 3 days in total- not sure how many hours they spent on it. Now again the roof is becoming temperamental, this being the primary reason to take it in.

Not sure on the vid recording? We use lasers to check the alignment but if the car feel's odd then get the alignment checked.

Warranty is your call mate
