Default SLK55 Handling of 18" rims vs. 19" Rims with Springs

I was wondering if any SLK55 members that have changed from AMG 18" rims to aftermarket 19" rims/tires -springs noticed a significant improvement in the handling of the car or just aesthetics. I find the handling of my SLK55 with AMG 18' rims and new dealer replaced Yokohoma tires firm but lose. I would make the change to 19" TSW Bremmas, Pirelli P2, and Brabus Springs if it makes a significant difference in the handling of my SLK55. Suggestions welcomed before I waste money.
Thanks

I don't have a 55 but have done exactly what you are looking to do with my 350. Brabus Springs not too much difference in ride...big difference when adding the 19" TSW and Mich PS2...IMO tire flex was the noticeable difference in handling ....and ride became "harder" but more in line with what you would typically expect from a sports car. I love the setup...and who could argue about the looks.

I recently changed my AMG wheels on my 55 to 19" TSW Snetterton wheels but still have stock springs. I Immediately noticed a little more of a sport feel because of the shorter sidewall but on the highway it still rides smooth. Car seems to feel a little tighter in the corners and I think overall it is a better setup. Can't decide about changing the springs because I don't want too harsh of a ride for everyday driving. I'm hoping the weather gets better here soon so I can post pics of the new wheels.

I still have 18" wheels but the Michelin PS2's are a bit stiffer than my last tires. Much more precise. But remember too that new tires have a bit of squirm to them due to the thick tread blocks.

If you want a stiffer ride, I would go with H&R spings instead of Eibach (brabus), traditionally, h&r has always been stiffer.
