Default Removal of Sound Deadening Material

hello dan,

I remember reading a post where you mentioned removal of a lot of the extra sound deadening material. Can you please let me know specifically where and what pieces you removed?

Regards,

Jesse

PS where are we with the parts for the tranny?

Hi mate,

I removed the liner from the hood of the car and then in the trunk when the tank was out i removed the insulation from both sides of it there's a huge amount in there.

I removed some from the firewall area but not a lot of the stuff and its a PITA to get at not worth doing unless you have the engine out.

As soon as the parts we need from the Black show up on EPC you guys will be the first to know.

Dan, you *really* are a great resource. Too bad you're "across the pond". If you ever made/make it to northern California I'd buy you lunch or at least one of your favorite beverage- and I haven't even purchased the SLK yet.

(tip of the hat)

Cheers mate,

A house in Cali is on the cards so modding trips will be no problem once i get a place sorted.

And since easty sold me on the beauty of the place and i sold the boss on an "expansion" plan a shop specializing in the AMG's could be on the horizon (Of course any SLKWorld members will be welcome no matter what car)

That would rock, Dan! my .02 would be to encourage a very social aspect to the location- perhaps even getting hooked up with the local SLK club. Encourage the members to want to stop by just to shoot the breeze- almost like a pub. Encourage them to perhaps start some of their weekend drives from the location. Who wouldn't want to see the toys and them getting installed.

This has been very successful for a local 3rd party Honda Goldwing shop located between San Jose and San Francisco. You'd be amazed at how much free coffee and doughnuts every so often can add to the bottom line....

Thanks guys

As i say a house is 99% sorted so i should be able to do modding trips come over with parts and the tools so things like Euro COMAND and retrofitting the phone / HK adding things like TV tuners or enabling features can all be done, either at my place or i can come to you.

For the shop its looking good but its still a little farther off yet the cost for it is much bigger as you can imagine its over $100k just for the diagnosis computers without anything else so we are prob looking a $500k+ sorta thing here so its big for a shop like us and takes time to sort.

Ventura eh? I guess that probably means a road trip down from the bay area... unless us northerners can bribe you to come up or tell you how horrible the weather is down there and hardly any MBs are sold down there vs the Google millionaires up here...

(Thinking of excuses)
