| Dan, Any performance mods you would recommend for the SLK350 that actually increase hp and acceleration? I have thought of getting the PowerChip. Maybe a Green Air Filter. Exhaust? Chip? Air Intake? Anything else I haven't thought of? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! |

| Are the green filters better than the K&N? I put K&N on my F-150 and really noticed nothing. Boy I like these little smiley things. |

| Don't mean to be negative. Many praise the "green filters". Is the praise justified or mere hype? Can anyone provide any scientific proof of the benefits? I'm asking because I don't know.

| the K&N is part of what i did to wake my truck up. i have a 1998 chevy 1500 with a 305. stock it was ok, but i got ticked when a dodge dakota with a 318 took me off the line to about 60 mph. i put in the K&N, the airraid intake, gibson 3 inch exhaust (cat back) and chipped the truck. i've never dyno'd it but the torque and acceleration increases were immediately noticeable. |

| ecu remapped, green filters, new manifold, downpipe, de cat and back box. simple mods, but will only maybe give you up to 20bhp at pure maximum! Then there is the serious money, with a supercharger! |

| i actually lost power with the K&N in my last car, and also suspect some fine grit got by it. I'm probably never going to use an air filter other than OEM again. |

| Well the filters are a good place to start i know greens increase airflow and i have seen proof of this but i have not seen before and after dyno results on an SLK so i cant guarantee an increase. Don't bother with a chip/map its not worth it all it will do is help drain your wallet and void your warranty for not just the drivetrain but the electrical system also. You could get a new airbox with a larger capacity if you wanted but that depends on how much air the filters can effectively manage as to any gain you experience. And your exhaust system there's improvement to be had here if you really look for it.

| Thanks! That really answers my main question. I am ordering the Green filter and will look for an exhaust system. I am assuming the exhaust manifolds do a good enough job. I just need to squeeze out a bit more power/acceleration and don't want to heavily mod the car as the performance this last weekend showed me that the SLK performs every bit as well as others (350Z, WRX Sti) when tracking my car. Certainly the brakes and good tires make a significant difference. |

Chip = $569, was seriously consider doing it this summer. 15hp increase, free dyno to show your results, cheapest mod for the money but after reading DanSLK's comment on ecu reflashing, I'm not going to do it anymore, he's a certified MB mechanic, I have to take his word for it. Air Intake = don't think there is one for the SLK350 only SLK200 which isn't offered here in the states. Green filters cost $110, didn't noticed any difference in performance but worth it just for the better fuel consumption. Headers = $2000+, 15hp or so, There isn't really that much performance mods for the SLK350, sadly people don't think there's a market for it. Kleemann will have a Supercharger for the SLK sometime in the future, that'll be your best choice. (financially). The cheapest mod for you SLK350 is to trade up to a SLK55, instant 355bhp, 360+tq/lb, if you are okay with an auto. | |

| there are lots of performance mods that you can do. really depends on what would you like plus how much are you willing to spend on this stuffs. you may upgrade your exhausts system, a good header and intake.. perhaps, add a mercedes performance chips. again, it more of personal preference.. anyways, just give us an update if you're done doing the mods, hope you'll post a pic.. good luck mate.. |
