Default Automatic Volume Control Working??

Hey Dan! I'm not sure if my automatic volume control is working. With the top down (+16 C today) I need to increase the volume manually and the when I stop it's quite loud & I need to turn it down.

I couldn't find anything in the manuals for setting this mode. Is there such a beast?

Thanks again for all your time & help!!

It should work automatically the adjustment levels can be adjusted using the SDS this might be the best thing have the dealer set it to a bigger increase and see what happens as you drive along.

Also do you have H/K

OK then the DRO Mic in the RVM should automatically compensate for current sound levels along with the speed increase this takes a back seat to the microphone that compares the signals being produced by the AGW to the sound it can hear in the cabin and compensates accordingly.

Try some top down driving or creating white noise on the mic have a passenger blow air past it while driving at about 35/40mph it should have a hard time hearing the sound system and pump up the volume.

Its located in the little opening on the OCP panel above your head if you have the garage door opener you will have the 1 2 3 and then back from that a small rectangular plate with an opening in the middle the mic is behind there if you don't have the GDO it will be int he same place just take a little more spotting

I am not at all sure mine is working. I think I noticed a change in volume ONCE. I liked how it worked in the SLK 320 better.

If it was broken completely the volume would start to drop as you get past 30mph and continue to decrease the faster you go.

You should be able to hear it working when the volume when stationary is fairly low. As you pull away and road noise builds up then the volume increases, and it decreases again as you stop. It doesn't do a lot if it's already quite loud though. Presumably there's a volume threshold above which it thinks the ambient noise isn't affecting your ability to hear it.

There is a max volume for adjustment but i don't know that off of the top of my head and the mic starts to work at 30

I have a similar problem that I plan on having the dealer look at. The voice prompts for the Navi are so quiet that unless I am at a full stop you can't make out what she is saying. The "Mute" levels don't help (I have full mute on). I am figuring the mic is dead and thinks it is always dead quiet in the cabin.

It's an obvious question, but you have tried pressing the volume increase button when she is speaking?

Um you do have the audio voice reduction set to max don't you otherwise the car wont lower the music feed enough to allow the nav feed to be heard properly also when she is speaking or saying "navigation is not active" when you press her repeat instruction button just turn up the volume and she will respond accordingly like Steve said.

If the mic was broken i.e the circuit had failed then the volume would get progressively lower from about 30mph and you would have to correct it manually just to keep it audible
