| Hey mate, What you wanna do is park the car up undercover if possible but if you cant then outside will do then shut everything down and open the bonnet. Remove the nav DVD from the boot and close the lid then wait 3 minutes and disconnect the battery for about an hour. When the time is up hook it back up again get in the car and go to position 2 on the key set the COMAND to nav then when it asks insert the DVD it should boot back up and now all should be well. If this does not work there is another option before needing to get the codes read i will post that up if this trick does not work. Just remember to lower the drivers window before you take the key out otherwise if you need to get into the car while the battery is off you could damage the seals

| I´m not sure Dan, but if you disconnect the battery, shouldn´t you teach the ESP and the windows after the reconnection? Full open and close the windows and turn the steeringwheel from max. left to max. right? |

| The instructions with new Nav discs don't say anything about disconnecting the battery. However, they do describe a procedure which causes COMAND to initialise itself (steps 3-7 below). So you could try:

| OK gotta clear a few things up. Gero, well done mate i forgot about that MJawa 55 you will need to re-initialize the windows after reconnecting the battery by pressing and holding the switches for the windows on the drivers side in the second (auto-up) detent for about 5 seconds after the windows close, the ESP will sort itself out its the older models that require the steering angle sensor to be calibrated. Steve, Thats the procedure for loading new nav software you can do the same by removing the old disk and inserting the new one with COMAND switched on and it will load automatically not sure why they give such a drawn out procedure its not needed, the COMAND will remember its location using that method you need to disconnect the battery to erase it. As far as i am aware the head unit cannot be aligned using SDS so the procedure would be the same. Pulling the battery is also good for clearing the ECU and TCU adaption values should your car enter granny mode.
