| A while ago my trunk would not close so i pushed on the lock mechanism (on the inside portion of the trunk) and slammed the trunk to lock it. Now, whatever i do the trunk would just not open. I took it to the dealership and said that they'd have to punch a hole thru the trunk (under the license plate) and try to unhook the lock!!! i tried using the unlock on the dash and can actually hear the pump working. Is there any other easier way???? pls help me! |

| If you can hear the vacuum pump i take it you have either an R170 or have either a CLK or SL could you please tell me what car it is so i know what i am working with. The mechanism could have jammed when it was slammed down they are very temperamental or on cars with the vacum system you could have lost a pipe what happens when you operate the roof?

| OK if you try and open your top the trunk lid should as you know flip back so you should have some limited access to the trunk. What i think has happened is the lock is jammed up and the system is fighting to release it so drilling the lock might be the only option unless you actually cut the arm where it wraps around the bar so the lock is still jammed but the arm connecting it to the tube in the trunk floor is split in half and the lid will be free to open you could then replace the lock without drilling the skin.

| If yours is a pre face lift you can pull the arm from behind the lock button with the roof cycle stopped with trunk back. Leave engine running, you get max 7 minutes. If it starts beeping just tap the red button. Practice 1st. Bazzle |
