| Just order my SLK55 for a spring delivery...it will be a long winter. But already I am looking at upgrades. Has any experience with the Rentech supercharger? |

| Yeah kinda. If you replace your suspension and you subsequently get problems with anything connected to it then MB are within rights to say its your problem we are not getting involved but if you change the suspension and the COMAND goes wrong MB are still under obligation or repair it for you.

| dan, would a supercharger likely void the warranty on the transmission, rearend, etc since the increased hp puts additional load on drivetrain component? |

| my suggestion would be to talk to the vendor(upgraded parts) about warranty. Also find a good dealer near you that is able to handle some "grey" stuff. Dan is out of England and warranties are different in every country. |

| My warranty suggestion was based on the US market from what i have been told from various sources in the UK market if you mod anything you kiss your warranty goodbye no exceptions in the US you are protected by laws that basically say if they can prove your mod caused damage to a component then your stuffed if they cant is is still under warranty. A good dealer is always handy you will get some awkward ones who will refuse to do anything to a car that has been modded but some of them are cool about it so long as you don't ask them to work on modded components because they would be liable if it got broke. As jliu says most vendors will offer a warranty on parts that they install or supply so you will still have warranty cover on parts that the voided by MB however not all suppliers do this and this could mean your open to big costs should something go wrong. And yeah V8 i would expect all those parts you have mentioned to be voided because of the reason you have mentioned all parts are meant to withstand X amount of load any more and while they might be more than capable of withstanding it they are not tested to that degree by MB so i can understand why they would void warranties on dive load components.

| I remember guys in my dad's MG club (dad owned a 1938 MG VA...one of the few four seaters MG made) had a supercharger they passed around (mostly TDs and TFs, the guys with TCs wouldn't touch it) and when you blew the main barings, or clutch or rear differential..or those u-joints! it was time to pass it on to the next guy....I thought about installing it on my 1967 Spitefire, but was advised by some of the old club sages that if I wanted to be able to drive it regularly don't do it or I'll be spending my evenings learning how to rebuild the drivetrain..... |

On a side note we had a guy with the AMG supercharger fitted to his SLK here a few days ago he had like a small hump in the hood so the thing could fit in looked really good about 600BHP on tap also still using the 7G but its been modded to take the increased stress i had the same done to mine now during the downtime guess if your adding a blower at some point it might be worth looking into getting it done to yours also. His car is a late model 06 so he lost his warranty but then his Sunday car is an SLR so i guess he has the capital to fix any issues that might appear.

| 40% slip LSD has been fitted mate. With the transmission strengthened planetary gearset, clutch packs and pistons (to actuate the clutch bands) also the operating pressure is increased slightly to allow for faster gear shifts.

| Awesome. and your considering SC? for the track I see all the TC/SC cars seem to suffer a lot over the N/A. guess it's something you can really learn to utilise.

| Nah not me mate i am more than happy with the car how it is now and its still N/A so there is no lag like the forced cars suffer from drove a mates 911 turbo a few days ago and even with all that variable vane stuff you can still feel the lag i mean no doubt it is a relatively simple way to gain lots of power but it's just not the same as an N/A car with all the power right off the mark. I knows that lag is more an issue for TC cars but i feel it does apply to the SC's also.

| My biggest concern, while doing the local track stuff i've been doing in the recent year or so. the TC porsches tend to be touchy just at the moment you don't want it to be. I've seen endless guys spin out in TC cars on the tracking out of a corner as there flooring the power. I make so much distance in that area as I know exactly the amount of power I'm getting and can apply it precisely. guess its all something you can learn. and on the street its really not that much a concern unless you cruise round corners on the edge of your grip.
