| I picked up my 55 two days ago at Stuttgart. It's mars red with all the options besides the performance package. I also bought the media interface cable at the factory. When I picked up the car, it turned out that the Mercedes representative herself owned an slk. I was having thoughts about the whole girly car thing. And then I turned on the car. The noise from the exhaust made me forget all those second thoughts and I drove out of the showroom, a happy owner. However, I've noticed a few quibbles which other 09 owners can help me out with. First of all in the multifunction display, whenever I reset the mileage, the "From Start" menu resets, while the "From Reset" menu stays the same, which is a bit confusing. One would think that the mileage would be reset in the "From Reset" menu and not from the "From Start" menu. To be honest, all of these things could be explained if i took the time to read the manual. However, I haven't had the chance. ![]() Another annoying thing is the window open/close. Whenever I open the window, the second back window also opens, which gets a bit annoying. Also I heard there was some issue with 09s with the auto lights and the high beams not working - mine seem to work so I don't know whats up. I also have the same problem with the open/close roof and the windows not coming back up when you close the roof. Smarttop should fix that. All in all the car is awesome and for a first time owner of an SLK, it's great. I'd also like to thank the community here for all their support and help. Once I get back, SLKWorld is definitely going to get a donation and pictures! |

There's 2 ways to look at the miles traveled, time, average speed and mpg: 1. From start, i.e., the current trip you're doing ( I think this resets itself after a few hours of being parked) 2. From Reset, which is your overall data (miles traveled, time, average speed, and mpg) since day 1 of driving the vehicle. If you leave this alone (i.e., not resetting the data by pushing/holding the R button at the side of the instrument cluster), then you'll see how you're doing overall. Sometimes when going for service, this may be inadvertently reset by the technician or when you lost battery power by forgetting to remove the key and leaving it in position 1 overnight (like I did ).Hope the above explains it. Make sure you have the SmartTop version 3.22 for the 2009 model year. Check out jbanks15's and WhiteRabbit's posts.

| FYI, it's a 4 hour interval on the "from start" auto-reset (car has to be "off" for 4 hours before it resets...) Yes, I have too much free time on my hands, stuck in an airport! And AWESOME new toy - congratulations, and welcome to the club! |

| Do you mean for the engine or the passenger compartment? (and I think the answer is no )But there is a "hepa" filter for the passenger compartment. |

| IIRC, model 2008 and onwards, the 55 has charcoal air filters. Here's the link http://www.slkworld.com/amgs/5750-quad-air-filters.html and photo below:

| I don't know if its exactly called a "charcoal filter," but I know that my mother's E300D has this feature, which filters the outside air. It's useful behind a truck or in a tunnel. I don't know if this feature is also in the SLK. Hit a 1000 miles today. |

| As etyu says, there's a cabin air filter in the SLK, but I don't think it's an activated charcoal one - it's up under the dash above the passenger footwell. There's a DIY thread somewhere around here describing replacing it. |

| does anyone know if you can disable the rear side window from opening when using the door controls? This is the bazillionth time I've opened the side rear windows when I've only wanted to open the front one to get one of those parking passes. It's getting annoying. |

| Wait till the engine and exhaust mature a little ...if you love the sound now you wont believe it then. Also the adding of green filters deepens the growl of our creature. Two things I would add, plexiglass wind restrictor and the remote top module.

| Right now I'm going to hold off on the wind restrictor and plexiglass windscreen. However, I'm definitely going to get the smarttop when I get the car back in the states in September. |
