| re; my toy list: "who me, spoiled? nah!" i finally got around to shooting some pics and putting them up in the Photo Album area. feel free to take a look. the more i look at it, and drive it, the happier I am. ![]() the audio question is: what do i do about the crappy stock system!? I'm considering a CLarion, Alpine, Eclipse or JVC 2-DIN screen/navigation unit. One of our local car-audio-butcher-types told me that a 2-DIN unit won't fit my '05, even though it will fit in a '06. I think he's wrong, anyone care to comment? |

| I see in your pictures that your driver's side seat belt is hanging outside the seat. Be careful when you take it off that you put it on top of the seat back. That way you won't ding the interior door when you close it. Also, when in that position on the passenger side, it will rattle and you will wonder where that rattle is coming from. Hope this tip helps... |

| hmm, not sure it's the right usage, but i used the term "component" to describe brakes where the rotor part is seperate from the 'hat' part and they are bolted together. while we were shopping for this car, we considered an '06 that had the P30 option, and in the process of researching it, i found information that implied that the P30 package included upgraded brakes, i think i remember the term 'component' being used. In looking at the brakes on our '05, it sure looks like the rotor and the hat are seperate pieces. is this the way all R171s are built? certainly our R170 was more conventional. when you say 'composite', that's puzzling to me. doesn't composite usually mean carbon-carbon brakes? or am i confused again? thanks for all the help, guys! |

| Never heard the term component used with brakes before to be honest mate. The P30 brakes are of the same material and construction as the non-P30 brakes they are just slightly larger, the reason the SLK55 brakes look bolted together is because they are floating rotors that allow growth and movement as the brakes are used, they are always treated as one unit and are sold as such. Composite brakes have been standard fitment to most sport's car's to many year's now, i guess what your thinking of is ceramic composite (carbon) like those fitted to the SLR.
