I think so too.

Did MB give you an estimate on when you might get your ride back? Hopefully less than 2 weeks.

well they don't have replacement authorization yet MB is having the dealer pull apart the engine and photograph pieces... the Service Advisor seems to think the replacement will be on its way Tuesday, so probably a week till its done...

I should have photos of the heads and stuff soon, I asked the tech to email them to me.
I will of course share them here

They air shipped mine, they didn't want to but the dealership kept pressing them (ACC to the rescue again and my engine had less than 200 miles on it) though there was a rumor that there was an AMG 55 engine in California so less flight costs.

I bought the dipstick from the dealer (about USD $100) but returned it as it was hard to get past some bends in the dipstick tube (of the 55) and I didn't want to force it through only to have difficulty pulling it out.

I don't know if i could do a group buy on workshop tool's (i will look) but the exchange rate would make it really really expensive for you guys even with them discounted.

Yes we do, It is a stiff fit when new but it eases up with use and i guess it's also a case of not wanting to give that screw the extra turn to fully home in case it breaks and its your car whereas somebody who does that job everyday will have no problem in doing the same thing and knows it wont break.

The MB calibrated dipstick was ordered via parts department and delivered in 24 hours from their parts depot in Texas. (I was fortunate that they would even sell me an MB shop tool)

I don't know if it's standard practice to use the MB claibrated dipstick or not with each oil change procedure. I believe engine oil is delivered via bulk through a calibrated dial attached to an overhead hose.

For now, I'm content with using the service menu on the instrument cluster for checking oil level. Oil level hasn't changed for the last several months everytime I checked.

Im glad your warranty is intact, a new engine roughly costs 40,000 usd.

Hi! Posting from a mbworld link, condolences to a fellow AMG driver. Hope for a speedy recovery. A c55 driver on our boards had the same incident, from Texas no less. Makes me a bit worried. Just out of curiousity, how hot was it when you were driving? The m113 engines seem to run extremely hot, as evidenced by short driving and opening the hood. I was reaffirmed by this b/c my hood insulation somehow shrunk from its hood mount holes. The dealer replaced it with the CLK insulation.
