| Are you taking the black forest/alps rally? If so, turn of the NAV and take the small roads thru the alps, the NAV will take you to the autobahn and you will miss it. Congrats on a beautiful ride. |

| Actually we've been living here for 20+ years. We have a 3 day weekend ahead and we're planning a trip down the Weinstrasse this weekend. Haven't made up my mind if it's the Mosel or Rhein... Either one will be great! Weather forecast is a little ify but I think it will be a top down trip. |

second, and A BIT OUT OF TOPIC HERE: hope you enjoy wines as much as i do (although i don't really drink a lot), if you don't, you may well stop reading this. without underestimating the powerful tastes of the rest, i consider the below as the most important weinstraßen in germany: deutsche weinstraße (pfalz) & südliche weinstraße (südwestpfalz), mosel weinstraße (mosel), badener weinstraße (baden), rheingauer riesling route (rheingau). i 've had the chance to drive through some of these areas, did some winetasting quite a few times, and i became to like german wines a lot. best of picks: grau-, weiß-, früh and spätburgunder, portugieser, merlot, st. laurent, silvaner, gewürztraminer, muskateller, kerner and more, but you need to get some bottles from serious producers. idig, weingut prinz salm (you have to taste their excellent wallhäuser johannisberg), meßmer, bergdolt, wehrheim, becker; few of the names i keep handy, but of course there are many others offering prime qualities... enjoy the ride, there are several wine festivals may through august in the region, and although i consider october as a very good period for this kind of trips, NOW is always better, especially in a top down slk... ![]() don't drink-drive and stay safe! brgds ir-ops Last edited by ir-ops; 05-24-2008 at 06:42 PM. | |

| Thanks to everyone's replies, I look forward to many years driving her and spending time on this fantastic forum. I hope to actually meet some of y'all someday. Does anyone know of any rallies in the local area within Germany. I'd love to make a road trip... IR-OPS, Drop me a line if you're ever in the area. Time to run, need to watch the Monaco GP. Go Lewis! |
