| Still shopping my area. And I'm getting close....i can feel it. they keep poping up with the features I want....but the wrong color....but I've noticed... Prices are falling on all slks BIG time...even on 08 models in my area ...not that I can complain about it as I will benefit from it ...but now it creates a how far do the prices fall before i buy senario. anyone have a clue whats going on?? I'm not seeing this in other cars I was considering. I.e cayman, bmw 335, tt coupe, ...those are holding to the same prices I saw 2 to 3 months ago. slks appear to have dropped 7,000 to 10,000 across all lines in that same time period in my area??? i suspect that my area was just overpriced to begin with but im not sure since i've seen the new models take a dive too. |

| Hmmm - I've not noticed that big a drop on the SLK's - I'm still keeping an eye out for the "perfect" '55 - with the exception of the '08s that are still "new" on the lot (pffffft! D I C K Dyer in SC called, and is offering about 10k off the MSRP for a loaded white '55 - I expect that's pretty common.) As you can see, I ended up with a 350, which I absolutely adore, and will hold on to until I either see the perfect '55, or move back to the states full time and buy new.. MB of North Houston has at least one new '55 going through every week, and the prices seem to be consistent. One thing to be aware of, the '05 are reaching the 4th anniversary of their "in service" dates, so no longer have warranty coverage - and this does seem to have a 3-5k impact on the prices. I have to be honest, I've been astonished that the SLK55's and SL's have held as much value as they have given the soft economy and the price of gas in the states - I really figured I was going to see a bigger drop in the "real" prices people were paying. Also, just picked my "C" up from Service A - time got me again - and they had a '08 pre-owned C63 sitting in the lot. That puppy has absolutely the meanest exhaust note I've ever heard on a "stock" car, much less a MB! The also had an '08 E63 for the great price of 98,000 GBP - gotta love the UK! Here prices on the SLK's are also holding firm - they had a '07 debadged 280 for 24k, with not many options. Wife sat in one of the '08 (facelifted) SLK-200K's, and was not convinced. It was Fire Opal (Mars) red, with the dark Beige interior. The leather was "stitched" with white thread, and I though it looked very nice. Was pretty loaded except for auto - had the manual 6, for right under 35k. |

| I'm surprised at the low prices that used SLKs are selling for. They (all models) are becoming very affordable. I purchased my used 2005 SLK 55 (low mileage, well equipped) in March 2007 at a exceptional price. Same car, with similar options, is at least 10k less today. As UK-C200 stated, expiring warranties on 2005 and 2006 model is a major factor and concern. Keep any car long enough and you face the same issue. I plan to keep my car for several more years and will pursue an extended warranty. A used vehicle is still a great option.
