| OK it's time to swap my pads out. I think the stock pads are awesome and i've disputed with people many times when they say there crap are they've burnt them up on the street. And I've never seen fade on the track. But It's time to swap and I'm always open to play with new things so I'm looking at something different than stock. So far I've found EBC do an couple different kind of pads for the 55, although not found anywhere that stocks them yet. Street sport - Front : DP21591 / Rear : DP21490 Premium street - Front : DP31591C / Rear : DP31490C summaries; Street Sport Sport upgrade pads, for faster stopping, first level brake upgrade solution Premium Redstuff Ceramic are for the fastest street use or Premium sedan fitment. | They should fit OK mate as the calipers are identical for the pack its just different pads and disks. I swapped mine out without any hassle just plug and play

| I'll ask my dealer.. Although they are useless. I ordered some from them over a week ago and called yesterday to find they could not find my order. then yesterday said they would call me back. Not call as yet, Thats the reason I was looking at 3rd party.. The mercedes dealer in fort worth and dallas area seem by far the worst dealers I've dealt with.

| Thats a shame that they are so useless sorry mate if people say that they will call you back they really should there is no excuse for not doing it. I brought the 030's up since you have had good experience with the standard fit ones i just thought maybe with the increased size of the 030's that should improve some more for you i have not tracked mine yet but the ones on my car certainly feel solid thats for sure

| Ah sorry easty it getting late here and i am using a lot of pain meds at the minute the pads i received looked slightly larger then the ones removed but they fit into the caliper just fine the disks are the biggest difference as i say the pads looked larger but they might be the same just without the wear mine had experienced i cant be sure i did not think to measure sorry. What i meant was have you considered doing a brake upgrade from standard to the 030 with the pads and disks. Sorry for any confusion mate

| AH no prob, thanks for the info. I would have gone for the 030 package if I had ordered the car but as I bought it off the lot so to speak. The brakes are great so I really wouldn't consider swapping at the moment. Thanks for the info again mate.. rest well..

| Ok, sorry guys, but it's my turn to be confused. So, the 030 package brake CALIPERS are the same, but different disks and pads? |

| Standard is; AMG compound braking system 13.4" compound two-piece perforated and ventilated front discs with AMG 6-piston calipers 13.0" ventilated rear discs with AMG 4-piston calipers 030 is qouted as; AMG compound braking system 14.2" compound two-piece perforated and ventilated front discs with AMG 6-piston calipers 13.0" ventilated rear discs with AMG 4-piston calipers So considering the calipers are not concentric? then they are different. 10mm exta on the actual pad is quite a bit different.

| easty and cyberdrakon, The calipers are identical i was checking this today and the EPC has separate PN#'s for the pads and disks the calipers are the same part. Easty they are the same facts i have mate but there was no way the pads where that much bigger, as i said i replaced mine without any problems and if i remember correctly there was a poster on either Benzworld or MBWorld that found out his dealer had fitted 030 parts by mistake when working on his car and they fitted fine. Seriously the calipers are exactly the same and the pads might be slightly bigger but not by much and if you look at the info they are talking about disks the pads are not mentioned at all. Cheers Dan

| Ah. so the calipers are probably just concentric and they just add 10mm of spacer. I'll see if I can order them. Again yesterday evening I got a "nobody is available" msg, we will call you right back. Hopefully I'll be relocating soon to the NW coast and have a dealer I like visiting.

| Where are you planing on relocating to mate not Palmdale is it but thats not really north is it how far north are we talking here north pole north or what? I just double checked now and there are 030 versions of the disks and pads but when i opened up the footnotes the latest SLK55's in the UK market at least are rolling of the line with 030 pads already fitted as the standard pad now replaced with the 030 PN# and its the same on both the SL55 and SL65 cars. Don't know what all that is about but i guess there must be a reason for it don't know if the same is happening in the US or not. Cheers Dan

| I'm sure it's cheaper for them to order a bundle of the same item. Standardising parts n all.. Not sure yet, Maybe Seattle.. Maybe back to Europa. Line of work means I never really know.
