| No. it was a lass and she said as my car doesn't have the 030 package so they will order the stock pads. I said either order them or i'll get them somewhere else.. your not fitting them so I dont see the problem. she said ok. they were $60 more than stock pads so i'll be interested in the comparison when i take the old ones off.

| Typical of a dealer mate anyways as i say mine looked the same really i think the biggest difference was the disks the pads did not look to be of a different design of anything like that. Mine slotted right in so i can't see there being any problems for you to get them installed.

| I could have got the race pads a little cheaper. But my friend said they don't last and really eat the disks. I not sure how much the disks cost but I'm guessing 300-500 $

| Ah right so in the long run the race pads would have set you back more cash then. I don't remember how much my 030 stuff was sorry mate but i think they where nearer the lower estimate.

| Ring ring.. Pads are in.. That was quick. I'm guessing there jsut standard pads they found in the store room. Be very interesting to see if there is any difference at all in close inspection. try to get them on tomorrow. As I think my engine is gettign tired of doing all the braking.

| Thats weird mate according to my computer that PN# is too long i guess the part must be one that is not supplied in the EU since my computer does not list all the US parts but from looking around the system the first three sections of the number did bring me to a brake page so thats good. Hope the fitting goes well for you mate. Dan

| They look like factory and dealer info mate. The part number you posted was most probably correct but my EPC is for the EU markets so that means it's US market info is incomplete so some parts don't show up on it but as i said the first few parts of the number where OK and they did bring the computer to the brake page so i reckon the number is OK i think the problem is with my computer not listing that part in the US.

| I swapepd the pads today. Real easy job. All you need it a 14mm socket and small hammer to knock the retaining pins out. The pads seem the same as the original ones so It seems my extra $60 was down the drain. I wanted ask about the brake sensor. The old one was a little worn and I didn't order the new one, is there a way I can short the wires and it'll trick the car? Or what will happen if I just unplug it. I forever check my pads manualy so really don't care if it doesn't work and It only checks the outer right pad so it's easy to see anyhow.

| Easty, Just wanted to thank you for your research. I know I'll be needing brakes soon so I have been monitoring this thread. So fronts cost $240 but would have been $180 if you went standard slk55. Why would the price be different if the brake pads are identical? I guess you're paying for the '030' name? Seems kinda like a scam. Do you think they are made of different material? Lastly, was there alot of material left on the rear brakes? Just curious.

| easty just unplug the thing if that does not turn the warning off then just connect the wires together there is nothing fancy about the sensor it is just on or off so if the first trick does not work the second will. Anyway i am glad the job went OK for you mate as dsb says i guess you are paying for the 030 but i must be honest and i know this could be down to the disks on mine but i thought i would put it up here and see what you think i can feel the increase in stopping power since my swap from standard to the 030 ones hopefully you might notice some difference also since you drive a lot harder than i do with the track days and all if you get a chance could you just drop me a message or something once you get used to the things and tell me if you do notice anything different about them if you don't i will put the standard pads back on mine when the time comes. Cheers Dan

| DSB - It's funny I orginally got the qoute a few months ago for $180, i've also seen this price posted on other forums. I called to query why I ordered the 030, yet they were identical. They were both brembo pads wit identical numbers stamped on the reverse and they said there is only one kind of pad listed for the slk55. There is no different numbers between the 030 and Stock for the pads. I'm certain there used to be. Maybe as dan mentioned they just use the stock ones now. There was about 2mm left on the pads, although this material was broken up in some area's the sensor it's self is about 2mm protruding into the material area so it starts to get destroyed when the pads get so low. Dan - Thanks mate. It's raining at the moment (woohoo) but I'll pull it off when I get chance.

| Dan I know it's been ages. But I've been driving along all this time with the brake error on the screen. anyhow pulled of the wheel today and tried yanking the sensor out. it still read error, guess thats good incase they just forget to attach the sensor. So I chopped the wires and joined them and the message vanished. it was a pretty picture, but I really wont miss it. as a note this is only on the near side or the right side of the car the left wheel doesn't have a sensor. thanks mate, brian

| Dan and Brian, I just ordered my brake pads both front and rear for $170. I wanted to try something different with a little less dust. Based on another forum member's experience, I bought the posi-quite pads here: http://www.irotors.com/storefrontpro...&i=23 2958930 Anyways, I want to get a new brake sensor and install it at the same time. -If possible, can you give me the part number? -In addition, am I correct in thinking there is only 1 sensor on the entire car or is there one for the fronts and one for the rears? -Finally, I've changed brakes before. In changing/removing/shorting the sensor, do I need to worry about disconnecting the battery? TIA
