Default Green Filters vs. K&N

I just purchased green filters from SLK world on order. On the veloce performance testimonial page for an SLK 55 it said they recommend K&N filters....just curious on opinions of the two. Are they similar in their benefits?

Cheers.

I think we have had a debate like this before.

General feeling was performance gain about the same, K&N add more oil and your more likely to damage your MAF using them

I've used K&N's on other cars, using Greens on the SLK - have had decent results (for the money) with both. Any difference in power gains between the two would be very minimal, if any, between the two IMO.

P.S. MAF=mass air flow, it's both a housing and sensor through through which air passes (and is measured) as it enters the engine. The sensor wires are very delicate and can be damaged by excess oil from air filters using it as a filter aid.

green filters are better they come oiled in an adequate amount, whist k an d come oiled excessivley; usually you would keep it 1 to 2 hours in the sun for it to dry to decrease your likely chances of spoiling the maf sensor.

Thanks to the members for answering, i hope im not late to add my points towards this debate.

I find green filterw to be better, no problems so far.

Default Green filter meltdown?

I guess many of you here have read the thread over at MB world in the E55 section about people who have had their green filter rubber seals melt and the filters collapse and are useless. if not its:
http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/sho...=1#post2521965

that is scary. I just ordered a set from SLK World. I have to ask them about this. hmmm, all this worry about a little filter.

Then I apologize Bill. But the thread was started this Nov. 24th. and is still being discussed today....I just got my car and I freaked a little when I read the commotion. Glad to hear it's been resolved.
