Findings:
Okay, I weighed the stock wheels/tires. I measured them several ways and multiple times to ensure accuracy. I then subtracted the weight of the Continental tires (21 & 22lbs according to Tirerack).

Fronts = 25.6 + 21 tires = 46.6 total
Rears = 26 + 22 tires = 48 total

vs. US 030 package

Fronts = 28 + 21 tires = 49 total
Rears = 30 + 22 tires = 52 total
(according jcanabal)
DSB, Thanks for the info. Great link from MBWorld . I never saw that one. The 030 wheels are heavier, but I feel they are unfairly criticised
with terms like "anchors" and "ultra heavy". MB could have done better considering they're selling an expensive "performance" option.

I wouldn't say its a hindrance but its not going to give you anything over a non-030 car.
Agree with Dan here. Get a track suspension and good tires. Learn to drive well.

The 030 SLK55 performance package never had an LSD in the first place, the only way you can get an LSD is via Kleemann and Brabus in their upgrade packages and that is a 60 locking diff.
