Post Anyone Tried the Nitto NT555?

When I bought my car, the dealer was hiding the fact that there was a huge dent in my left front rim, I tore up my front tire, so... that quickly made my mind up to change all 4 wheels and tires. I ordered a set of the 19" Oz Superleggera III (the high price hurts, but I love the look and performance).

My tire guy says I will be happiest with the Nitto NT555 line with 265/35/19 in the back, and 225/30/19 in the front. I mostly do street driving, for fun, no racing or tracks. What do you think of those tires?

No Idea or positive points on them but they are from a good brand to put that in mind. Other alternatives are Michilen PS2's , good year and bridgestones.

I have to say 19" O.Z racing superlegga 3's look superb on the SLK, you should look at V8SLK's 55 with the same wheels in 18" diameter.

Very sportive.

actually Mo, mine are 19"...

Joel, i'm running the same size of tire that you are considering (ps2's) on 19" superleggeras and there are no fitment problems. i love the ps2, it's an all around great tire. i live in the san gabriel valley, pm me if you are interested in seeing the wheels in person beofre making an investment.

I have them on my wife's 02 Renntech SLK 32. Good punch for the buck. Have gone 5k miles without problems (18 in. Renntech rims). I just put a set of Nitto INVO's on my CTSV. They're a little quieter but the sidewall is less stiff. They're about 10$ more per tire. I went through Discount Tire. They'll match the on line price. Hopefully they'll last 10k (the V eats tires) The PS2's are awesome but almost $120/tire more.

Thanks V8SLK, I took a look at your ride, I love the pics. Looks great. How do you like the Oz wheels? You sounded a little apprehensive in the way you suggested I look around. Best I can tell from all the reviews, threads and word of mouth, they are one of the better wheels custom fit to the SLK55. I have "gone cheap" before and hated the ride, the balance, the rubbing, etc. I hope this time it will be smooth fit.

i'm not apprehensive about them at all. i'm thrilled with the oz's. they are much lighter than what i had before, i've grown to really like the look, and they are a strong and well crafted wheel. i couldn't be happier with them. the only down side that i have found is cleaning the inside. because the wheel has such an open look and the inner part is so light (in color) i'm afraid i'll have to take the tires off of the car to really clean the inside of the wheels.
i just wanted to offer you the oppportunity to see them in person and the offer still stands.

OZ's are beautiful, congrats on you new wheel purchase.

I have Nitto's NT555, they are fine on the streets, if you don't push your car, there's plenty of grip for regular driving. They are noisy compared to OEM. You can't tell with the windows and top up, but I do 95% of my driving top down so I hear the difference.

I track with my 17's, and those Conti's are silent compared to my Nitto's. Alot more comfortable too but I think it's due to 17's compared to 19's. They are slippery in the wet, so I don't know if it rains much where you reside, if it does, I would skip on the Nitto's and go with something else.

Thanks for your input. I ended up with the Nitto's, so far I think they are better that the OEM. I went up 2 sizes on the rear, so my traction initally seems better than the PZero's that were OEM. IT may because if size, but from a stand still in sport mode, dry pavement, full throttle, just a little chirp without the ESP kicking in like previously. So I am happy with that!

The Oz wheels look amazing! They fill the space nicely, and combined with the Nitto's, no rubbing or fitment issues to report. I'll report back later once I put some real miles on them! Thanks again!

Not sure of the exact weight, internet sites put it around 20lbs for the 19". From what my tire guy told me, the Wheels are significantly lighter than OEM, the tire is definately heavier, but the over net will be quite a bit lighter.

Hope that helps
