| Hi Folks! I live in Italy, and am thinking of upgrading from an SLK 350 to an SLK 55 when my lease is up... Here in Europe, one has the choice of purchasing either an SLK 55 or an SLK 55 Performance. All I know is that the SLK 55 Performance's top end speed is not limited by a governor, and it costs about $11,000 more. What are the other differences in the Performance model? Thanks a lot for your answers! |

| You can get the limiter disabled in the SLK55, and the ECU remapped at the same time for more power, for about £1K in the UK, so you'd better get quite a lot of other things extra for the cost of the Performance package. |

| Do you mean the black series car? We don't have a performance option as such according to the computers just standard and black versions. If you mean the black you get different tranny software, 400bhp, a fixed roof (better stability but no way to drop it), more supportive seats and some other goodies. Its like the M3 and the M3 CSL except its not quite as exclusive as that to be honest in my opinion its not worth it if you want the extra kick get some engine mods done to the car and you get to keep proper seats and a working roof.

| Thanks, Steve... For £1K, it would be a bargain compared to the $10K for the Perfomance SLK 55 if this is the only modification. Dan, it's definitely not the so called Black version -- they cost about 108,000 Euro, IIRC. It's the SLK 55 with the speed limiter removed, and some other changes, which might be carbon fiber detailing, and other details. I don't think that the vario roof if messed with. I WANT the vario roof, which for me is one of the features which make the SLK such a great car! I'll have to ask MB the next time I'm at the dealer. |

| Perhaps FPF422 will chime in... On another thread regarding the cost of a SLK 55 where you live, he cites the price for the SLK 55 and the SLK 55 Performance. Maybe he knows what the Performance's premium price includes. Thanks! |

| Is this not just the 030 package your speaking of? Bigger brake disk, different heavier wheels, more tuned suspension. engine limited to 172 rather than 155.

| Sounds like the US 030 package. Carbon Fiber interior Composite front Rotors that are 14.3 inch vs the 13.8 030 2 piece Rims limiter increased to around 175 mph Alcantara Steering wheel Nurinburg tuned suspension at around 11k its a bit steep. its around 6800 here in the US. At the same time the black series is significantly more expensive than 11k. |

| If this is 030 the 11k is way too much for it like jliu says. It would be cheaper to buy a standard and add the parts afterward. Actually i have just had an idea thanks.

| I would have the governor removed, Instead of paying that extra $ for a unrestricted car.

| You guys nailed it down... It's the U.S. "030 Package". It's about 8,000 Euro, or 11,000 U.S. I'd opt for the SLK 55 and pay for adjusting the limiter and tweaking the suspension knowing the facts. A 400 hp SLK 55 with a tweaked suspension sounds fantastic for an already great car. Thanks: Dan |

| The car should be 360 the 400 is for the black series mate. I have driven lots of MB's with the 030 pack and don't notice a real difference from standard but i think on the track it would be more noticeable
