Canadian AMG sales/production numbers
I was searching to see how many SLK 55s were sold in Canada over the past years. I managed to get a hold of someone at Mercedes Canada who gave me the following information.
Quote:
Please note our retail sales for the SLK55 AMG variant in Canada are as follows:
2004 = 14 units (engine was introduced)
2005 = 185 units
2006 = 175 units
2007 = 98 units
2008 = 60 units
2009 (up to and incl. May) = 25 units
the novelty is wearing off....look at the sales figures for almost all specialty cars, if they did a major face lift or drop a 6.3 in it, sales would jump again
Keep in mind there here in Canada the SLK-55 is a good $20k over the SLK-350. That's a lot of pennies. In my case even though money wasn't a huge deciding factor for me, that, combined with the lack of a manual was enough to push me to the 350.
Cheers!
Dang

Job markets in Canada? Not that great. All things considered, probably better than the USA, but it's much dependant on what province (or even city) you're living in.
but hey. I'm doing my part I bought a brand new SLK! Zaino product to wax it and have already made my Xmas wishlist full of SLK goodies

As far as I know my car was the 2nd SLK55 sold by Weber Motors this year. Not too sure about DMFC's numbers.
It's nice to know that your car is one of the few. I like having rare/original rides.
On the contrary, when it comes to repairs. Not everyone has the parts you need for a 1973 75 series caddilac or a 1988 Fiero. 20 years from now hopefully MB is decent at having replacement parts.
Contact MB Canada with specific questions and they can break down the totals even more for you. For example, when I asked about colours, they told me I had 1 of 4 Canadian Caspian Blue SLK55's for 2006.

Glad to hear from you again FishtailnZ.

That's what I originally did. I asked for a breakdown of all SLK models from 2004 to 2009. For instance, how many 300, 350 and 55s were sold in 2004.
Instead they only gave me SLK55 numbers. :S
I reposed the question again. Hopefully I'll have a response in a week or so.
After that maybe I'll pose the question about colors.
