Why doesn't my AM radio work?

Hey all,

I'm in the middle of installing a new alpine 505 in my car.

I had a stock non nav unit and it didn't get AM. It had gotten soda spilt on it prior to me owning it. The MB dealer said it was in an accident even though it's not on it's record. Anyway... I never got AM before, thought it was the radio, the new radio doesn't get it either?

anyone know what the cause could be?

It takes all the different frequencies picked up by the whip and splits them into logical groups, command and control signals from the remote are sent to the rear SAM, GSM frequencies go to the linear compensator and AM/FM goes to the tuner.

If you have a fault in that bit of kit then perhaps the signal sent over the coax to the tuner is too weak for it to lock on.
