To sum up, the Magnaflow piece is just a touch short overall to fit precisely the gap left by removing the resonator, so the guy welded on a couple small sections of stainless pipe to one end to close the gap. He also used a pipe stretcher to massage the stock pipe ends to snug them up to the Magnaflow piece. Then welded the whole shebang together - nice and tidy with no leaks and factory appearance.
