As much as I like BMWs in general - some of their more recent designs put quite a strain on my eyes, especially the Z4 and the 5 series. The one car I would definitely consider if I were to look for a replacement for my SLK right now is the Porsche Boxster S. Handles like a dream and comes with a manual transmission. The drawbacks are that it doesn't have an airscarf, nor a hardtop, and that the front looks more or less like a dozen Porsche generations before.
