The Consumer Reports data posted above posted by Tummy is, of course, an approximation and an estimate. Things like insurance and financing are going to be variable with each owner. The only thing I dispute are the fuel cost (therefore consumption) figures showing the 350 Z to be more economical than the SLK 280. People I know who own 350Zs tell me of around 19 mpg in town and 25 mpg highway. And I swear that I got 30 mpg in our SLK 280 on a recent highway trip, mostly at around 80 - 85 mph with 3K miles on it (so the engine was a bit "green"). A friend with a more "mature" '07 SLK 280 reports 34 mpg for highway cruising at 75 mph.
One thing I always do before buying is to check insurance rates on each car I am considering, based on my own personal information, location, and history. Insurance is a strange world. It cost me $20 LESS per year in '03 to insure my then -new C 320 than for our former '97 Cadillac Catera. |
