Jmeredith, did you use Dan's suggested method to check engine oil level (not the one from the Owner's Manual)?

It is the following (warm engine):

With the MFD showing the odometer (miles traveled and total miles),
move key to position 1, press R button at the side of the instrument cluster 3x in quick succession,
MFD shows voltage, press up arrow on steering wheel button, MFD shows engine oil in ---/--- quarts,
move key to pistion 2, wait about 10 seconds or so,
MFD should show engine oil in quarts (liters if outside US).

Bring key back to position 0 when done.

Addendum: Since the engine ran okay a few days after adding some oil, this leads me to believe it's not related but just one of those events that happen. Again My sympathies.
