Doh, sorry, i need to brush up on my math...3*8=24, not 36.

note, The M117 had 24 valves, which AMG tuned and converted to 36 valves with 400-450 hp (true AMG engines only). That was in 1986.

The m119 was introduced with 36 valves in 1990 for 1991 models with about 320 hp stock (5.0).

The M113 was introduced with 24 valves with 310 hp (5.0).

It seems like they've been taking backwards steps until now, eh?

Big reason why the 36 valves weren't given to the M113 was because of emissions.

My point still stands though, we have been going backwards in terms of hp for awhile for NA engines.
